Subject: I got a review from the author of "Hatred of Steve"!
In reply to: AC 's message, "More tantrums at ff.net" on Sat, Nov 08 2003, 17:31:17

Ah, it's funny.

<I>I thought that I was the only one you rudely mouthed-off to, but I was wrong. For some reason, you keep all the stories you've shot down in your favorites list.</I>

Obviously she didn't check the account's bio... sigh. "Some reason"? (snorts)

<I>Every review you've made is extremely unpleasant.</I>

"Spell-check your story before posting", "Perhaps a little thought for your chapter titles, a better name than 'Default Chapter Title'", and commenting that she's broken the FF.net rules is unpleasant now... And she hasn't even seen the ones I've written for some of the fics that have been pulled and are thus no longer on the list...

<I>I would like you to know that this is not a professional site. People here are not journalists or prize-winning authors, </I>

No, but they _are_ bound to certain conventions when they sign up and more when they post. And this kid doesn't seem to understand that the rules are there for a reason and when she agrees to follow them, she must do so.

<I>and by what I've read of your story, neither are you. </I>

Considering she's read my troll-bait, that's especially funny. Like hell I'm going to put my real works on the identity I use to review, this makes my point. Not only that, the troll-bait was created specifically to contain things like a Mary Sue and other nasty cliches but it's as mechanically as perfect as I can make it. I find it amusing that the author of the RPF/bashing piece that's full of Netspeak, horrible spelling, <I>"Please review meeeeeeee!"</I>, and assorted formatting errors is lecturing me on style...

<I>I think it is very childish to vent your insecurities </I>

(coughs) Insecurities? About some dipshit's fanfiction? (chokes) She flatters herself. I have them about certain things, everybody does, but not for something as petty as writing fanfiction.

<I>on people who have done nothing to you, and I suggest you get a therapist, because you obviously need one.</I>

I point out she's broken the rules, and she thinks I need a therapist... (sighs)

<I>When you flame someone, it does not mean that you are a better person than they are, only more eager to build yourself up.</I>

I'm sorry, but there's just something funny with a Netspeaking punk fourteen-year-old trying the psychology approach on me. It's just _sad_. I can't honestly recall a time when I've "flamed" someone like I reviewed her to tell them I was superior or to "build myself up".

<I>It must be hard to go through everyday life, since you are such a small-minded person. </I>

Small-minded? Aside from the saying "never keep your mind so open your brains fall out" applying in this case, I am one of the most tolerant people she will ever meet.
Never mind the fact that I haven't yet shot my workplace up with a rifle (despite the people in it), the menagerie I call friends, or how I conduct my lifestyle, I'm "small-minded" because I didn't accept her <I>"Steve is a real person, and I despise him. So, I decided to write this parody to make the hatred public! Mwahahahahaaha!review me plz!"</I>...

<I>I hope that all the bad feelings you have spread on this site come back to you,

Awwww, I hurt the poor dear's feelings. I wonder why she didn't consider Steve's feelings if she's that "sensitive" and easily hurt. I wait for the day she gets an essay returned from a prof or a copy editor.

<I>since you obviously need a lesson or two in compassion.
Sincerely,
DoS.</I>

Compassion? Lemme guess, because she's 14 and knows everything, I should just let everything slide. Whatever she wants to do, openly violate the rules of the road and acknowledge she's doing it, let it slide. Ah, to be 14 again and so self-righteous....
