Subject: Hartlepool and Hull fans..

What happened halfway through your seasons to change your form so much?

Was there an event that set it in the right (Or wrong) direction or did everything just click?

Ta for doing my research for me...

[> [> Any rason that happened.. That was certainly the win that sent you on your way.. Hull's real demise started much later though. -- Tommy the Silkman, 13:41:23 05/30/02 Thu (193.237.226.233)

We were bottom mainly because of bad luck and bad finishing but those 4 things transformed us. Beating Hull 4-0 was the turning point for us though -- Stephos Sunbed, 13:45:25 05/30/02 Thu (213.122.151.82)

[> [> [> I dunno. maybe the same reason why we never started playing until numerous weeks into the preceding 2 seasons? I have my own theory based around the lack of quality in our pre-season opponents, but maybe the real reason is that the presence of leaves on trees scares the players (would explain the constant play-off failures). Possibly even that the lads won't give 100% for Turner until they've been out trick-or-treating? -- Spiff, 13:47:46 05/30/02 Thu (152.105.146.40)

[> So many reasons, rumours of training, fitness levels, Little losing the plot to go into.. but if you want it from a footballing point of view, though a lot of Hull fans may disagree with me, I think Hull 0 - 1 Carlisle (having not lost at home for 364 days prior to that) and possibly just before that Hull 2 - 3 Oldham in FA Cup were amongst the most damaging. It made us realise we were no longer unbeatable at home, after that the confidence just went completely. -- R, 14:21:47 05/30/02 Thu (212.23.11.251)

[> In past seasons I've seen Hartlepool play and I've flet that them ending up in the playoffs was more the result of having one spell of being unbeatable giving them the required amount of points. This season, however at both games they looked very good, probably the best team in the division other than Argyle and Luton and really should have gone up. Hull by contrast were unfit, had no semblance of tactical organisation and lacked commitment. We beat both HUFC and HCFC 1-0 but the 2 games could n't have been more different. -- Jesus Quintana, 16:27:35 05/30/02 Thu (139.184.30.11)
