Subject: Depression IS treatable, but finding the right combination of medication, counseling and lifestyle adjustments isn't easy. Bless your heart>>>
In reply to: Depressed and tired of feeling empty - u-no-hoo 's message, "A depressing tale, don't read if you are not into hearing about depression and it's hold on a person" on 03:47:11 10/03/01 Wed

...but remind yourself that dispatching yourself out of living will not "cure" your depression,
but will only bring all kinds of negative hurts to those who love and care about you (yeah, I
know, some days it feels like NO one cares; but they are there!)

There are quite a few of us out here in cyber land (a number of whom post to this mb) who
have seen the aftermath of suicide, and it is NOT anything you would want to inflict on
anyone you care the slightest bit about.

Sassy and Linda (and others) have excellent words of advice, comfort and counsel on their
web pages. I encourage you to go there and KNOW you are not alone.

It took me many "tries" to find the right medication; and sometimes you have to take a
particular "brain chemistry balancer" for several weeks before the benefits kick in.

Be kind to yourself, work with your doctor; and remind yourself that the world doesn't hate
you; it is your brain playing tricks on you.

Be encouraged, that frightening feeling, those terrifying thoughts, or even an inner deadness
WILL eventually subside and the sun will come out; but YOU must make yourself go get
the help you need, it won't correct itself without help.

Sure do hope I'm giving the right advice here, and hope you realize like so many others I've
been down the path and back, and still have dark days (often associated with tremendous
physical pain).

So, try to think thankful; and determine to get some help; don't give up!

Sincerely, Mele
