In reply to: Same Old Story 's message, "Agree Henry. Football fans make me laugh. We get all het up about players wanting to leave while under contract, even when their sale is basically business critical (Saha, Mitrovic for example), but a manager continuously waits until past the 11th hour to commit, wanders around fluttering his eyelashes at other clubs, and thats all ok and respectful behaviour" on Wednesday, April 15, 10:01:33am

  • To be honest, I'm cold on 'respect' in the context of personnel coming and going (sometimes when they prefer, sometimes when the club does). It's divorced from the reality that both sides always want the best for themselves and so would we. But...other teams and fans having regard for the prowess of Fulham's. THAT kind of 'respect' is to be aimed for and revelled in. Favour coaches that provide it [entertainingly], without anticipating career-long devotion. • 5 years is a decent stint, especially for Silva, so well done to the suits who had the presence of mind to shackle his wanderlust with the blessed release clause. Silva's done his time with us, and I feel that he doesn't have enough to give Fulham in the future. We are an established PL mid table club, so there must be many up and coming head coaches who'd have the energy, ideas and strategy to take us forward.
