FFC 3 future plan -- FoF jay, Wednesday, January 28, 09:39:00pm (NoHost/94.2.243.131)
Once again, plan was stated to be:

1.Sign experienced players✅
2.Stay up ✅
3. Establish ourselves as a mid table club✅
4. Try to finish top 10 ❌ last yr we fell minorly short - however we did set a club record for points/wins, so plenty positives and a little unlucky to miss out.
5. Having done the above, begin to take some chances on significant moves for younger players to sprinkle into an established Premier League squad ✅
6. Try to compete for Europe/cups/top 10 ⏳
signs so far that the clubs trying to support this next phase with ESR/Kevin/Chuk/JKA/Bobb. Obviously no guarantees in a very competitive league.
We're on plan. This was always the path reportedly, it's just that some didn't trust that process to play out. Fair enough, but here we are 👌

- Benefits of a long term management structure with no manager/directors/recruitment team changing for years, a long term plan is being implemented. Clearing out some dead wood, replacing with players with real high ceilings. Wilson is unfortunate but just how it is (TAA, guehi, senesi etc). I moaned we target too many older high wage players, but they’ve stabilised us, we didn’t rush, do a saints and risk going down with a team of kids. Why are we looking at a player from a weak league who’s out for the next 4 weeks with a broken arm , he’s only scored double figures in two of his four seasons at PSV…… when Omar Marmouch is available from Manchester City at roughly the same price.

Jorge Cuenca in Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week.My opinion not 100% Totally convinced with Jorge, looks a great team player and committed to the cause and there is big improvement still left in him. Worried if Bassey replaces him in the team because I think it will be very difficult to keep him at the Club now he has tasted first team football. I would definitely retain him for the Man Utd match deserves he’s place.

I get that these are some big IFs, but...IF we got Bobb to replace Adama - we have 4 high quality wingers

IF we get Pepi, we have 3 quality strikers, 1 a bit old

We have 4 great CBs and 1.5 players per FB position.

That would only need a quality box-to-box midfielder and that is not only a VERY strong squad, but look at how the age has come down from Willian / BDR / Jiminez / Adama. That is a younger squad, ready for Europe.

IF we get Bobb and Pepi - the last piece is Hayden Hackney, who crushed his interview a few weeks ago - exactly what we need.

- A cultured central midfielder and striker is the most pressing requirement. We've already wasted a ridiculous amount of money on an unproven young winger who is looking completely out of his depth. Bobb, albeit of better calibre, is largely in a similar category. There are also many mixed feelings about his ability, and injury problem. Just seems another unnecessary and risky transfer. - According to the BBC the negotiations with Wilson have stalled because of the uncertainty over Marco! We should be able to match pretty much any other bottom to mid table club who would be our competition for his signature, if we actually want to keep him.     - It wasn't really meant to be cryptic, as i've made the point prior to the window opening that i thought the timing of deals could be critical to his decision, so am just being consistent with that view. Scotland have handed a first call-up to seamer Zainullah Ihsan for the upcoming T20 World Cup in India.
The 19-year-old was born in Afghanistan and came to the UK as an unaccompanied asylum seeker before being granted refugee status in 2022.
He had only ever played tapeball cricket before arriving in Glasgow, where he joined GHK cricket club.

He became eligible to play for Scotland last year and could make his full international debut at the World Cup having previously represented Scotland A.

Former New Zealand cap Tom Bruce are also included.
Hampshire's Scott Currie was ineligible for selection having appeared as a substitute fielder for England during their T20 series against Ireland last year.

Top half of the Premier league is normally occupied by seriously big money clubs. Current rare visit by little Fulham added to the prospective talent rumoured as being looked at suggests the Marco Silva FFC project just requires Shad to commit for steps forward to be achieved.

Looking at latest on field ESR contributions, Kevin's efforts and Chuck's talents, the only negatives are crazy price tags.

One club that I find arrogant and presumptive is Manchester Utd. They've been terrible for years now. They have dubious owners plus Brexit Jim, who lives in Monaco! For years they've been more of a corporation than a football club. Very little of their recent money has come from their performances but their brand. Ferguson sticks around like a godfather of the Utd mafia with ex-players mouthing off about the present team, going on about the past when the game was very different from today. What manager wants the former one rolling up every week! Let's also put things in perspective by remembering that Real Madrid have won the CL/European Cup 15 times to Man U's 3, 2 of those were decidedly lucky-the J Terry slip for the penalty and last minutes scrambles v Bayern, the better team on the night. Last night MOTD 2 devoted half the programme to the club. Ok it was a decent game and Carrick has made a good start but there was no mention that Arsenal played v Inter midweek. You'd think that they'd won the league! I grew up with Munich and watching Fulham losing 5-3 in a dramatic semi-final replay at Highbury. In those days, I had a lot of sympathy for Man U and admired Busby's Utd. I have a different feeling now and hope that Marco and his team can pull off a result up there on Saturday. It's about time as we've been narrowly beaten by them on too many occasions. Here's to a victory against a badly run, very unpleasant club.
