Totally agree on another striker , as neither Raul nor Muniz are ‘dead certs’ to reproduce their best form next season ; not forgetting Muniz’ existing contract still to be extended . However the type you mention ‘ambitious’ as that sounds surely doesn’t fit in with what we are likely to be able to spend . I can’t see Silva wanting his key players to depart , yet we are urged to believe that the Khans have approved his Plans . Doesn’t make sense ….. -- SW6.doc

I don't understand the economics but there seems to be reoccurring rumours that our budget might be more than expected. I've seen figures from £35 million to £150 million, plus there's potential and considerable profit in Robinson and even Andreas to a lesser degree. Not sure Silva would stick around either if there wasn't assurances of reasonable funds available for squad improvement, as we know his transfer mantra is generally about showing ambition. - I think the variance in expectation is just a lack of understanding by some on how amortisation works. The range you've given is essentially the same thing, i just think the lower end (£35m) is the 'in year' P&L spend and the higher is the total transfer value. If you sign players for £150m on 5 year contracts, it will cost you £30m per year (150/5 =30) - to use a working example.
