Ravin was shocked to hear Rowan say that his sister hated him. That couldn’t be right, could it? Ravin was pretty damn sure he sensed a lot of love flowing between the siblings earlier. Maybe I'm just an idiot who shouldn't put so much trust in instinct. After all, he had been completely wrong about his ex-wife, right?

Shortly after meeting Kyri, his gut told him that they were meant to be together. He truly believed that they were perfect for one another, and often envisioned them sitting around a campfire with the pack of children they would have. Pipe dreams, Rue. That's all they were. So much for gut instinct, and empathy! Obviously, such traits should never be fully relied on.

“Man, you got me feelin’ all shitty all of a sudden," Rowan said. "I lost my girl to a fool, an’ now I got you looking all down in the dumps. Why you so gloomy, huh?”

Ravin was about to say that he lost the love of his life by BEING a fool, but was distracted by Sarra's entrance. He gave her a haphazard smile then pointed to the liquor cabinet she asked about.

As he watched her move to retrieve a bottle, he suddenly wondered why the hell he hadn't chosen the privacy of his room to get drunk in. A few more sips of whiskey and he'd end up burdening others with his problems, and they didn't deserve to be so burdened! With that thought in mind he staggered to his feet, holding the counter with one hand for support. "We'll talk again Rowan, when I'm not so shit-faced!"

Clutching the bottle in his other hand, he pushed away from the counter, stumbling a number of times as he made his way into the dining hall. He managed to wave at those that remained at the table before shuffling out the door. Climbing the stairs was a bit of a challenge since they refused to remain stationary, but he only fell to his knees twice before finally reaching the top landing.

Once he was in the long hallway that housed the doors opening to various bedrooms, he was struck with the perplexing problem of not remembering what room he had chosen earlier. Shrugging, he staggered toward the first open door he saw and entered, happy to find it void of people. Immediately he pulled a chair over to the window then flung open the shutters. He took a drink of whiskey then placed the bottle on the floor before sitting down.

Ravin propped his elbows up on the still and rested his chin in his hands, grinning at the numerous stars that filled the dark sky. It was nice to see the same constellations that he saw when he was a child sitting in one of the many trees within the Rover Forest. He stared at the twinkling beauties that reminded him of diamonds and let his thoughts drift. When he was younger he used to wonder what the world held in store for him. Now here he was, a grown man, wondering once again what the future would bring his way. "I'll never be alone as long as I have you to light up my nights," he whispered, letting himself get lost in the stars that seemed to wink at him.
