Isobel was relieved that Valhorek had an antidote for the poison that had begun to course through Ravin's veins. She was still concerned, but she knew that he would be all right now.

She waited a bit nervously as Erlic disarmed some traps and opened another door. Why were there such elaborate traps and defenses in here? Surely there must be something very valuable in the next room! She squeezed Ravin's uninjured arm slightly, smiling encouragement at him.

Finally the door was opened and they entered a decent sized room with a bed and a desk and ... Isobel made a face. More of the puppet creatures. She was glad she already had her sword out and wondered if Jade would burn these as well before they got up and started moving. Then she caught sight of the large puppet in the corner.

Of course, as if on cue, the thing's eyes opened and it leapt to the attack. Erlic did an admirable job defending himself, but before she or anyone else could move to assist him two doors opened and two more of the puppet creatures staggered out.

"Madre del Dios they are hideous!" She remarked as she leapt at one of them, swinging her sword at it. She hacked its leg off and to her horror it began bleeding!

"They are alive!" She gasped. In her surprise she hesitated a fraction of a second too long and the puppet sliced her cheek open as she tried to dodge its blow. She hissed and turned back to the thing, noticing the strings that stuck up into the air and apparently to the ceiling. That gave her an idea, and out of the corner of her eye she could see that Erlic was doing the same: cut the strings.

Before she could put her idea into action, however, a dozen of the smaller puppets wrapped themselves around her legs, biting and stabbing and pinching. She tripped and went down... right at the feet of the hideous mega-puppet! She tried to stab the thing (which probably because of the strings was able to remain upright with only one leg) but was soon pinned down by the swarm of tiny puppets which continued to inflict numerous small but increasingly problematic wounds on her body.

The large puppet raised its sword to strike and Isobel swore at it, spitting, as she prepared to take the blow. "Cut the strings!" She shouted to anyone who might be near enough to prevent her untimely demise.
