Erlic turned, and realized there was no necessity for further battle. He looked around the camp to see how badly injured his friends were, and was thankful that both Argus, and Valhorek were attending to those in need. It appeared that Tristan seemed the worst off, but Erlic realized that Valhorek would help the dragon’s wounds, and Marz would see to the dragon’s comfort. It was time they rested a bit.

He listened to Ravin’s words about collapsing the entrance the spider people used, and started to formulate a plan in his mind. He watched as Jade lingered around the fallen enemy, looking for any prizes they might have left behind. He stayed near her, and gathered his own weapons that had been used during the battle, cleaning them off, and returning them to their rightful place. Of the arrows he had used, only two broke in the midst of battle. Arrows were easy to obtain provided one was in a city that harbored a fletcher of good standing. Erlic never bought any weapons that were not of good quality.

It appeared that Jade had retrieved something she deemed value as she quickly concealed the item. The mage had gone in search of the item in question, and it wasn’t for him to question what she had found. Everyone had fought valiantly in the battle, and if a little something could be found for their troubles, then so be it.

Jade approached him. “Well, darling…shall we search the houses, collapse the tunnel, or take a nice long soak in the warm water?” She grinned, and her eyes sparkled despite the dim lighting of the area. Erlic had to admit that the exotic woman was quite forward, and perhaps something he wasn’t too familiar with. She had an unusual combination of rare beauty, forwardness, and the exoticness that only enhanced her charms in the most unusual way.

He gazed into the woman’s eyes, and thought about her last statement, and how she referred to the we in the statement, which seemed to presume him, and her. The thought was quite intriguing, and inviting, but there was still the business of staying safe from the spider people. He hooked his arm into hers, and led her toward the opening the creatures used to enter, and leave. Once there, he motioned Jade to remain at the bottom just in case there were others making their way into the cavern. No sense in both of them getting hurt. And if he was attacked, she could always come to his defense.

He skirted the area very carefully, dagger in hand in case someone decided at that time to enter the caverns. Fortunately there was no one there, and the guild master examined the area to best decide how to cave it in. He examined the rock cropping, and quickly looked around for some form of implement he would need. He spotted a dropped dagger, and after realizing it was in poor condition, used it to chip away at pieces of the rock at various angles. He pulled out a small sack, and sprinkled just the tiniest bits of powder into the crevices he had formed. He stepped back to examine his work, before going back down to join Jade.

Erlic led Jade to one of the stalagmites near by, and quickly went through his backpack pulling out his bow, one of the special arrow shafts, and another of the explosive heads. The one thing Erlic relished was the treatment of his weapons. He considered them special, and revered. He took time when he had it, to assemble the weapons carefully, as if they were an extension of him. He assembled the unusual bow that only the Ninja carried, snapping the ends in place, and hooking the gut string to both ends. He carefully screwed the explosive head onto the special shaft, and made sure it was secure.

“I suggest you take cover,” Erlic suggested. “No sense in both of us getting hurt,” he stated as he winked at her. He waited till she had taken refuge, before taking careful aim toward the top of the opening. The explosion at the top should trigger the powder he had placed at strategic points along the opening causing a total cave in of the opening.

He pulled back on the bow, focusing on the matter at hand, and held it for a few seconds before letting the shaft fly through the air. The arrow hit its mark right on target, and the explosion caused not only the top to fall down, but to also discharge the powder he had placed in the crevices causing a form of implosion. When all was said and done, there was no way that anyone would be able to enter, or leave through the once entrance.

He smiled at his handiwork, as he carefully disassembled the bow, and returned it back to its quarters. He then helped Jade to her feet, and they walked finding a house located near the stream. The guild master held the woman at bay, and was about to open the doorknob when something in the back of his mind stopped him. He quickly donned the special gloves he carried, and quickly decided to check for traps. Oddly enough he actually found one, but the important question was why. Who would want to trap a home here in the cavern? He dismantled the trip, and was about to open the door when he stopped. He didn’t know if it was instinct or just his imagination, but he decided to remain to the side of the door as he turned the doorknob, and pushed the door open with his dagger.

As soon as the door swung open, a whoosh of fire shot out, and he quickly turned, and pushed Jade to the ground on her back, covering her body with his own. When he thought it was safe, he turned his head to see if anything else had happened. The building was still standing, and he wasn’t sure what had just happened, but he was sure he hadn’t imagined the fire.

He looked down to find the piercing eyes of Jade. “Are you alright?” he asked with just the slightest hint of a smile on his face.
