Isobel sat next to Ravin at the fire, sipping her java as he spoke of the plans for the day. She pulled out her map when he mentioned it and unfolded it. "Si... here and here are temples that are unexplored -- at least by us." She looked at Ravin.

"Seņor Ravin, would it be useful for you to keep the map? It might make planning things easier." She handed it to him with a smile.

Jade and Erlic made their appearance and Isobel grinned. It would appear that Seņor Frio was not so frio after all.

A noise near the entrance of the city caused her to leap to her feet, her sword drawn. The others were responding similarly and when the were-spiders finally appeared they were ready for them. Erlic darted off, presumably to come up behind them or something, and Isobel watched warily.

Finally the creatures began to appear, advancing on them. Isobel rushed at the one nearest her, giving a great cry as she sliced its leg off. She turned, ramming her sword into the creature's abdomen. She dodged a blow from the creature's sword but sustained a scratch along her forearm. It was very minor and she did not allow it to distract her. Instead, she used the opportunity while the spider-thing's guard was open to plunge her sword into its chest, killing it.

She turned just in time to evade the blow of a mace the other spiderman wielded. She pulled a knife from her bandolero and hurled it at the thing, striking it in the side. It shrieked in pain and rage and slammed the mace into her side, knocking her to the ground. "Cabron! You will die for that!" She spat at the thing, twisting to put herself beneath its abdomen. She drew Muerte and plunged it into the thing's abdomen, simultaneously kicking one of its legs. She rolled out from under it just in time to dodge another blow and stabbed Muerte deep into the creature's belly, twisting the deadly dagger.

Again the beast howled in pain, the mace slamming downward at her. She moved out of the way just in time to cause the creature to smash its own leg with its mace. "You are an incredibly stupid creature!" She said in derision just before slicing the were-spider's head off with her sword.

The thing fell dead and she stood there, breathing heavily, clutching her side. The blow from the mace had doubtless broken a rib, but she was alive and the creature was dead. She was satisfied with the result.

She turned to see how the others were doing, wincing slightly as her side flared in pain. She smiled as she saw Ravin killing one of the creatures. She realized with a start that she was beginning to have deep feelings for him. She hoped all would be well between them. She did not wish to lose her heart again if it was only going to be crushed and thrown back at her as Juan had done. Somehow she did not think Ravin was much like Juan.

Barry had felt bad about making Saras upset. He hadn't meant anything by his comment. Saras was all wet and miserable looking. He had looked like a drowned rat. Some bashers were just so damn sensitive!

He tried to find Corum but discovered that he had entered one of the houses. He could tell that the addle-cove was in there but nothing more. Well, he hoped Corum was getting lucky!

He floated away from the house and hovered around near the Jann at the fire. The big guys were still eating and telling some sort of jokes that Barry just didn't think were funny. "Hey, where're the hot Jann babes, anyway?" he asked one of them. The Jann laughed. "The women do not pursue the questing for Sheik Daraba!" One of them said.

"Well it's a damn shame," Barry observed sadly. This made the Jann laugh even harder.

Eventually Ravin and Isobel showed up, then Erlic and Jade. Damn these fleshies, getting all sorts of action while he couldn't even get a decent massage!

Suddenly everyone was pulling out their weapons and before he knew what was happening a load of those spider things came rushing in. Barry shot up into the air and positioned himself above one of the creatures, dumping several small but deadly vipers on top of the spider. The snakes did their work and soon the spider was a curled dead thing laying on the ground. The snakes slithered off into whatever cracks and crevaces in the walls they could find.

Barry noticed one of the spiders seemed injured, so he rushed at it, biting its wounded leg with his razor-sharp teeth. A large chunk of exoskeleton came away and Barry spat it out. The spider dude struck Barry with a sword, sending him flying into the ground with a crack. "Ohhh man I think I split my noggin..." he moaned as he lay there. The spider creature looked down and seemed terrified by what he saw. "Boo!" Barry said, rolling his eyes dramatically. The creature howled in fear. Then suddenly it wasn't howling any longer. It dropped to the ground on top of Barry.

"Hey! Hey I'm stuck here! Will one of you Cutters get me the hell out!" A hand reached in and pulled him free of the spider's dead body.

Isobel grinned at him. "Next time move out of the way, you foolish skull," she told him.

"Hold me close... I think I'm hurt..." Barry whimpered, trying to get to her chest.

"If you do not behave, I will put you back under the spider," she said, chuckling.

"Hey... it's some kinda miracle! I'm all better already!" Barry said as he floated up to get a better view of what was happening.
