Subject: No point in arguing about this
In reply to: Tristan 's message, "Putting my foot down" on 01:05:12 02/26/02 Tue

Marz stared at the lantern nearest them, wishing it were a blazing campfire instead. The damp, chilly, cavern made him shiver. He could almost hear his teeth chattering when droplets of water slid down from his damp hair past his collar and down his back until his shirt absorbed them. The climate of Bizmar was warm year round, making it hard for him to adjust to the cold nights in Neromba. He wondered how he would ever manage in the snowy regions that Tristan promised to take him to someday. A smirk crossed his face when he saw himself turning into a solid block of ice right in front of his lover.

When Tristan placed his hands over his own, Marz sighed, enjoying the physical contact. Of course, it didn't last long because the dragon jumped to his feet a moment later, rebuking Marz's suggestion that he stay away from Kazabet's palace. While listening to his lover rant about how he'd fry anyone who tried to snatch him, Marz hugged his knees to his chest in an effort to keep warm. I wouldn't mind a little dragon fire right now to get rid of this raking cold that's seeping into my bones!

Hearing Tristan brag about his sword fighting skills made him feel a little less worried. No doubt, he'd be able to fend off any mercs that came at him with ease. But, his lover's skill with a blade would be worthless when it came to dealing with mages and their raking spells. And, people wondered why Marz hated spellcasters! Luckily, most of the mages employed by Tegol were relatively weak. Those that wielded more power had their own agendas, which didn't include working for a crimelord with half a brain. In order to get his mercs to Neromba quickly, Tegol would have to employ at least one mage, who was powerful enough to teleport a small group.

Marz was wondering just how many men a single spellcaster could teleport when Tristan held out his hand to him. His icy fingers defrosted a bit from the touch of his lover's warmer hand. He stood there mutely as Tristan rubbed his arms briskly, coaxing more heat from his body. When his lover's lips kissed his ear before moving to caress his mouth, Marz started shivering all over again, from desire rather than the cold this time.

"Now tell me you understand and believe what I'm telling you," Tristan said, after ending the kiss. "Wherever you go, I go, and nothing you say or do is going to make me change my mind."

Knowing it was pointless to argue this issue with the dragon, he nodded. "All right. We'll fight Tegol together. Now, let's go back upstairs where it's warmer." He grabbed Tristan's hand and practically dragged him to the stairs, eager to leave the frigid cavern.

Once they were in the room on the first floor, Marz backed Tristan against the wall. While kissing him passionately, he slid his hands under the dragon's shirt, warming them by running them up and down the sides of his rib cage. Marz was very tempted to satisfy the need that arose within him, but he struggled to suppress the urge. He feared that Tristan might not like him ravaging his body right there on the stone floor of the barren room. "We'll have to continue this later," he panted, putting some distance between them.

Marz crossed his arms over his chest because he knew that if he touched his lover again right now, desire would win out, and he might not be able to stop himself from taking things all the way. "Let's get some hot java," he said, quickly turning away, and rushing toward the staircase just outside the room.

By the time they reached the second floor, Marz regained his self-control. He filled two mugs with java, handing one to Tristan before they sat down near Corum. "How's it going, Barry?" the ex-gang leader asked, glancing at the skull. He turned his eyes to Corum after taking a sip of the hot java. "I guess we don't have to worry about Tegol's guys finding us in these ruins. The real fun will probably start when we get back to the palace." Marz sipped more java, wishing he hadn't left his heavy cloak on one of the pack camels they left hobbled outside the crumbling walls of the ruined city. He glanced up at Justin and the Jann when they entered the already crowded kitchen.

"After we have something to eat, we will be ready to explore the ruins," Ardesmar announced. "Sheikh Daraba wants to begin the search for the Peacock Throne in a building we saw near here that resembles an ancient temple."

Since the kitchen was crammed with people now, Marz suggested that those who had already eaten should move to another room. "Call out when it's time to leave," he told Ardesmar before leading whoever wanted to follow him into one of the bedrooms across from the kitchen. The ex-gang leader sat down on the edge of a bed, and gulped more java. When his eyes fell upon a door across the room, he called out to Corum since he was closet to it. "I bet that's a small closet. Check it out Corum. Hopefully, there are some nice, warm cloaks hanging in there."
