Erlic was enjoying himself as he continued to wage war against the spiders. His hatred for Tegol, and the bitterness that had welled up within him, seemed to urge him into further battle with any of the creatures that were available.

He had seen the little magical act that Jade had managed to use in order to protect herself. If nothing else, she was very resourceful, and knew how to get herself out of trouble. She reminded him so much of Silk, the assassin that had stayed at the tavern. She was alluring, deadly, and yet a tease when she wanted to be, not to mention that she was quite beautiful. And now Erlic thought of Jade in that format, and started to wonder more about the mysterious woman.

When he heard Tristan’s cry to duck, Erlic moved at lightning speed, unsure of how much time he had before the dragon unleashed whatever it was he was going to set free. He could feel the heat travel over his back as fire reigned down on the hairy creatures that were attempting to attack them.

"Having fun yet?" Jade winked. Her eyes swept his face, and then met his. "Remind me to thank you for saving me properly later."

Erlic couldn’t help but smile, for it was an emotion he seldom displayed, and the last time he felt that free was with Silk. Jade was truly different, and he enjoyed that. “The fun hasn’t even begun yet,” he stated with his infamous smile followed by a wink. He quickly hoisted himself onto his feet, extended his hand to help her up, and quickly went around to see if there was anything else he could kill. A few of the spiders were alive, but not moving. He made quick work of killing them.

When no one was looking, he quickly took a few vials, and filled them with the spider venom. It would come in quite useful when he took the time to transform it into the poison that could be coated on a weapon. He had his own laboratory at his home just outside of Bizmar, totally equipped with every conceivable test equipment possible, along with every major, and minor types of poison known to man. He always had to be in complete control when concocting the poisons, for just the slightest wrong measurement could very well kill him, not to mention the possibility of beakers with the deadly liquid exploding, and spraying him with the lethal substance.

He hid the vials away, and turned to see what was transpiring. He moved closer to Jade as he saw Valhorek working on Tristan, Marz, and Rowan. Once everyone was healed, they would journey into the underworld of the temple, and see what treasures it held.

Once Valhorek helped dispatch the last of the creatures, he turned to see if anyone needed his assistance. Tia’s voice called him over, and judging by the look of worry on her face, it seemed that Rowan had been seriously affected by the damage.

He used his psychic powers to check out Rowan, and was surprised by the head injury he discovered. Although not truly a head injury, something was causing blurriness in the elf’s vision as well as dizziness. Val examined Rowan’s head, searching through his hair, until he spotted a few shards of brick that had lodged themselves into his skull. How he had managed to overlook something of this magnitude he wasn’t sure. Now that he thought of it, he remembered Argus healing the man, and thought that everything was taken care of. They were both at fault for not seeing the injury earlier.

Valhorek took a closer look, and suddenly realized the reason for the elf’s behavior. It appeared that the shards had penetrated the skull, and possibly touched a few of the nerves controlling his eyesight, as well as his balance. “Hold very still Rowan,” Valhorek whispered to the man. “This may hurt but I need to take care of it.”

He pulled out a tweezer like device, and very carefully grabbed onto the first shard very firmly. Using his psychic power, he made sure there would be no further injury as he pulled it out of his skull. He continued this process several times over until he came to the last shard. He realized that if he pulled this one, it would also pull on a nerve, and possibly severing it. He had no choice but to make just the tiniest of incisions to get it out. He rolled Rowan onto his stomach, keeping his head in Tia’s lap. Val motioned the young woman to hold his head tight, and to keep it from moving. Val wiped a bit of the salve onto the area, and waited till it was numbed. He took the tiniest scalpel he had, and carefully made the tiniest incision, taking care not to cut too deeply. With another device, and the use of his powers, he managed to free the nerve from the final shard, pulling it out from his skull.

He quickly wiped up any blood that might have flowed from the tiny wound, and applied a salve to it. He wrapped a bandage around Rowan’s head to keep the wound clean, and sanitized. “Just rest for a while until the pressure subsides,” Valhorek stated. “However, I think you’ll be fine.”

He turned his attention to Tristan, who had been led by Marz. After quickly applying a salve to the dragon’s hands, Valhorek easily bandaged them up. “The burns weren’t severe, and should heal quite quickly.”

He then turned to Marz, who seemed to give him a dirty look. Valhorek only smiled, and shook his head, as he checked out the youth’s shoulder. It was indeed dislocated, and replacing it would hurt. He pulled out a clean rag, and told the youth to bite down hard on it.

“I can take it,” Marz stated.

Valhorek merely stuffed the rag in his mouth. “Yes you can,” the healer answered. “And when you go and bite off your tongue, don’t come running to me for something that you think I might have caused. Now bite down hard!”

Marz finally succumbed, and did as he was told. Valhorek placed on hand on his shoulder, and the other on the side of the arm. He counted silently to three, and with a quick motion, snapped it into place before Marz even knew what happened. The rag went flying out of Marz’s mouth as the intense, although brief pain, surged through the area.

“Now go easy with that shoulder,” Val instructed. “It’ll be a bit tender, but I think you’ll live.

He moved his attention back to Rowan, and checked the elf out with his healing power. The pressure had indeed decreased, and that was a good sign. Slowly, he helped turn the elf onto his back. “When you feel like it, open your eyes, and try to focus on various objects. It should take another fifteen minutes. Let me know if you experience any other problems.”

The healer replaced everything he had used, and finally slung it over his back. It would do the group good to rest a bit before venturing down into the area Marz, and Jade had uncovered.
