Subject: Resting for a few minutes
In reply to: Marz and Jeremy 's message, "Ain't no itsy bitsy spiders here" on 10:16:30 03/01/02 Fri

Ravin chuckled when he heard Isobel call Valhorek a mother hen. She certainly had the man pegged correctly all right! But at times like these, the thief was happy to have someone so knowledgeable in the healing arts around to aid them. Without Val's expert healing skills, they wouldn't be able to get far at all. And now, Argus seemed able to assist the injured as well, which was an added bonus.

When Isobel said something about a very large spider, Ravin's eyes shifted to the altar. Immediately, he withdrew a pair of knives yet he didn't dare throw them since his vision was still a bit blurry. The thief wasn't about to take the chance of accidentally hitting a friend. He glanced at Rowan, who seemed disorientated as well, and was glad to see Tia there to help him.

Ravin watched his friends battling the spiders, squinting a few times in order to see clearer. The leaf Val gave him to suck on was indeed helping, but not fast enough for him to do any good in the ongoing fight. He tried his best to flatten himself amidst he rubble on the floor when Tristan gave the order to do so. A moment later a wave of heat rolled over him, then he erupted into a coughing fit when the room filled with a light layer of smoke and the fumes of burning hair and flesh.

When Ravin sat up his vision was near perfect, allowing him to see the burning carcasses of the spiders. Gingerly, he got to his feet only to come face to face with Sheikh Daraba. The Jann rapidly began to insist that they proceed down the uncovered stairwell. "My dream told me that I would find the Peacock Throne in catacombs beneath a temple," he said for perhaps the tenth time since they arrived in the ruined city.

The thief pointed to Benis, one of the Sheikh's men that had been injured in the roof collapse then nodded at a dazed Rowan. "Some of us need a few minutes to rest and recover from our injuries. We'll proceed down the stairs once our healer deems everyone fit enough to do so. Those that are too severely injured with be escorted back to the tower before the rest of us proceed." The Sheikh, still looking ridiculous in his ogre disguise, finally nodded before going off to stand with the rest of his men.

Ravin approached Saras and Jeremy, who stood nearby. After stating that he was glad to see that neither of them was inured, he took the torch from the genie's hand and moved to the staircase. He held the light-source out before him, revealing at least thirty stone steps leading dark into darkness beyond. After returning the torch to Saras, Ravin pulled out one of the glowrods Erlic had given him from his pack, since he intended to use it to help light the way when they descended the staircase. He hefted himself up to take a seat on the altar and took a swig from his ale flask while waiting for Val to finish tending to any injuries before they moved onward.

When Rowan called out her name, Tia turned to give him a kiss on the cheek. "I'm right here, my seltwa zin." She helped him to stand, not at all liking the way he swayed on his feet. A frown crossed her face when he released her shoulder and tried to take a few steps forward. Before he could fall flat on his ass, she hurried to catch him, bracing her body for his weight.

"Save me, Tia," he murmured, wrapping both arms around her.

She stared up into his glazed eyes then shook her head before easing them both down to sit on the floor. After coaxing him to lie down, she rested his head in her lap; worry coursing through her as she lovingly stroked his face. "VAL!" she shouted. "I think Rowan's a bit more injured then we initially thought."

The thief tried to keep her voice steady, although the elf's present condition send alarm bells off in her head. She bent down to brush her lips against Rowan's forehead before whispering in his ear. "You have to get well quickly so we can continue what we started earlier in that clothes room!"
