Author: Isobel and Barry
Subject: These things really bug me...
In reply to: Ravin and Marz 's message, "Anyone got insecticide?" on 10:05:52 01/04/02 Fri

Isobel was surprised when the mant that was towering above her suddenly collapsed on her, dead. She shoved the disgusting creature to the side and peered around it, nodding her thanks to Ravin even as he hurried to finish off some of the last of the creatures.

She hauled herself to her feet and climbed up onto the rocks wearily. Looking down at her leg, she snorted in disgust. "I am getting slow," she commented. "Obviously I will have to practice more and talk less." She grinned at Laurel, her smile turning into a wince as she pressed against her thigh wound to prevent further bleeding.

She raised her sword and kissed the blade before sheathing it. "I will do better next time, Papa..." she murmured, not quite sure why she was suddenly speaking to her sword as if it was her father. It must be the suggestion the old man in the cave planted in her mind about her sword's secrets. "I am loco," she whispered to herself and shook her head.

She looked out over the carnage, idly wondering ...

"Seņor Ravin? Fri-- Erlic? Could this have been a diversion designed to slow us down? Or do you think it was simply a chance encounter with these foul things?" She saw Valhorek hurrying toward her and silently cursed her weakness.

Barry yelped as Marz grabbed him and started shaking him. "I'm just dislodging that raking dirt from your eye, bonehead," Marz blatted.

"Well you could be a little more gentle---AAAH!" Barry suddenly found himself flying into the face of one of the bug things. That berk had actually thrown him like some sort of rock! He hit the thing square in the face and ricocheted off. He stopped himself in time and hurled himself toward the laughing Marz.

"Yeah, yuck it up, you leaky fleshy!" Barry shouted angrily before dumping a load of roaches on Marz's head and flying off to help Isobel, who seemed to have decided to take a nap under one of the mants. "Next time it'll be fleas," he muttered to himself, taking an extreme dislike to Marz suddenly.

Isobel had hauled herself out from beneath the big bug and climbed up onto the rocks, so Barry flew higher, looking around. He didn't see any sign of anything dangerous. He'd forgotten all about the glinting reflection he'd seen behind them earlier, and he didn't see it again. He floated back over to Corum and said to Yorik, "Can't see the pikin' bugs under the ground anyway so why am I lookin'?" Yorik didn't grace him with an answer. "Yeah, that's what I figured," Barry muttered.
