Subject: Sure!!
In reply to: Tia 's message, "Wanna help me find a Roc?" on 18:32:54 11/27/01 Tue

Rowan grinned back at Tia when she burst out laughing, though he still didn’t know what was so funny. Not for one second did he imagine she could be laughing at him. “Oh, Barry, yeah!” he said, his grin widening as he nodded in understanding when she told him the cause of her merriment. He had to admit, a floating skull with big, bugging eyeballs sticking out of its sockets was pretty damned hilarious.

His face took on a more serious expression as Tia stood up, telling him she intended to find a fleshy enough Roc so it wouldn’t hurt her “cute little butt.” “No, we mustn’t let that happen,” he murmured, stealing a glance at her pert little backside as she turned to say something to Corum. He quickly averted his eyes when she spun around again, holding out her hand as she asked him to help her chose out a Roc. For her and Corum, that is.

Oh, cheer up, Silvertree, he chided himself, So you kissed her and she fled the coop. They don’t all want you that badly. At least you’re still friends with her. He shrugged good-naturedly, but was unable to suppress a wistful sigh as he nodded quickly and took her hand, leading her outside to the courtyard housing the Rocs.

“This one looks the plumpest,” he said, striding up to one of the lounging undead birds. “You’ve still got a bit of life in you, huh old girl?” He slapped the Roc kindly on the shoulder, but the creature only blinked one glazed eye at him, a cloud of dust and dead feathers flying up where his hand contacted with its flesh.

He took a step book, coughing somewhat, which ruined his attempt to play off his stupidity. “Ahh, well,” he laughed, glancing sheepishly at Tia. “I though it looked better than the rest anyway.” Suddenly, his eyes lit up as a really super idea flashed through his brain. “Wait a second! I know…” He paused and removed his back, rummaging through it and pulling out a large, thick cloak. He’d meant to throw it on while in the air, in case the breeze got a little chilly, but now it could serve a more nobler and honorable purpose.

“Here you go,” he said, spreading the cloak out on the dead Roc’s shoulders. “That should be nice and comfy for you and…uh, Corum.” A brief look of disappointment came to his face, but he shook it off with a forced chuckle. “Good thing you and I aren’t riding together. It might look kind of hokey for two people who are just friends to take a snugly joyride through the desert together.”

He cleared his throat slightly before glancing around a bit. “Well, I guess I should find one of my own, huh? Think I promised Jeremy I’d ride with him, the little miscreant.” He met her violet eyes briefly before smiling again. “Least you don’t have to worry about sitting on that nasty zombified buzzard anymore. Yuck!” he added, pinching his nose, “I think I’ll have Laurel give me something so I don’t pass out from the smell!”
