Subject: Conversing with a Roc

Ravin glanced at Isobel when she touched his arm then listened quietly to her suggestion about using the skull somewhat like a spy. A hint of a smile came to his mouth. The woman was not only beautiful, but intelligent as well, and that impressed him. If Barry could manage to keep quiet for extended periods, he would certainly make an excellent scout. He was about to compliment Isobel on her idea, but Erlic beat him to it.

While the guildmaster proceeded to question Isobel about some of the strange words she used, Ravin finished his muffin, washing it down with the remainder of the java in his mug. A moment later, he excused himself from the table and hurried outside to take a closer look at the Rocs they would be riding.

Although he saw Marz and Tristan standing off in the distance, he paid them no mind, moving off to stand beside one of the undead Rocs that lounged around the side of the building. After pulling free his ale flask, he took a deep drink then paced the length of the creature. How in hades did one go about riding one of these things? He scratched his head while trying to think back to the night before when he flew aboard one with Erlic. Naturally, he was fairly drunk at the time so his memory of the flight was quite foggy.

"I knew I should have at least learned how to ride a horse," he mumbled while eyeing the huge beast. Since almost all of his time had been spent in Bizmar before meeting Erlic, there was never a need to use anything but his own two feet for transportation.

Ravin guzzled more of his ale and wondered if the creature would immediately take to the air if he climbed aboard its back. "Too bad you don't come with instructions," he said staring into the Roc's dead eyes. "Verbal instructions that is since I can't read," he added as an afterthought.
