only you can know what is best.

My friend Patty faced that situation (due to her kidney disease) before she ever had children. She and her husband chose to have a family, but have paid a high price. She's had two kidney transplants, both of which have failed eventually, and is now on dialysis until another kidney becomes available.

It's easy for me to sit back and be critical...I felt supportive of her first pregnancy but then thought she was taking a foolish risk by having more babies even after having the first kidney transplant. The thing is, it was very important to her and her husband to have a daughter, so they kept trying until they had one. I guess only they know their motivation...and to them it was worth the price they're paying.

I guess you can talk to the midwife...see what she says. Maybe go to another specialist if you want a second opinion....then make whatever decision you feel most comfortable with!

Did your doctor say what causes this type of damage? Just the stress of pregnancy?

I'm glad that the prognosis is good...medicine and rest is a lot better than surgery.

Let us know what your midwife says!!!
