You guys have to think what you do and how. Why sympathetic about your general concern being shortchanged by your employer MTA some suggestions from my side.
I work in Wall Street and live in the 90's, i.e. my commute is USD 40 thanks to yur strikes (if I get a cab).
While the USD 200 would be hard, I could pay.
Could you please do the Math and think what that means for all the restaurant, coffee shop and cleaning workers who earn less than USD 10 an hour? They don't have health insurance or pay it their own. They don't retire @ 55 at half pay. You got offered 10% over 3 years and instead of giving some concessions in exchange, you fail on your clients, the average straphhanger.
We pay your salaries, your health insurance, your pensions and have to take up with your lack of service mentality every single day (unaudible announcements, doors close in front of people for the sake of it, slow moving trains every morning).
So, you TWU 100 Local have to choose? We keep walking until you give in, not the other way around and I can only encourage the MTA to do so.
Get the trains back and negotiate a fair deal, common sense dictates both sides have to gain and loose.
Or pay the price and hopefully all of you strikers get fired - remember cleaning a train station is an honest job, but also not that complicated and we are sure to find 100's who want to earn 50k or more doing that.
And there might be people out there who know to drive a train as well.... and are willing to until they are 62.
You may think you are right, but you are dead wrong. Every kid in NYC will remember that TWU100 spoiled their Xmas, not the MTA. That's what will be left after all, a wait, yeah and a TWU 100 in bankruptcy court!
