Ý have used absentee ballots for 24 yrs. in Turkey (forwarded from the U.S. embassy in Ankara)and in 2008 used for ther first time an electronic absentee ballot but have forsworn the 'political process' altogether this time around...since there seems to be virtually no difference between the two candidates and other minor parties like the Green or Libertarian parties robustly shut out from the debate i find the election laughable...as was the last debate on 'foreign affairs'. Both Obama and Romney talked in the most mind-numbing generalities, no talk of the Palestinian quest for statehood the cesspool of Afghanistan
the re-invigoration of Latin America economically and with a 'don't fuck with us any more' attitude, the necessity of
U.S. military suppport as a NATO member should Turkey enter
open conflict with Syria (getting closer by the day)the U.S. vying for influence and going head-to-head with China
over mineral rights and land investments in Africa etcç - i could go on and on. At the same time the usual mantras were invoked (seeking the spread of democracy in barbarous
corners of the world, the myth of the U.S. being the 'indispensable' nation thereby stroking Americans' sense
of themselves as the exceptional people etc...) what a farce!
