Congratulations to Marghie.
My grandfather was a selectman for a while in Irvington.
WHat sort of table of organization is the Littleton system ?

Just wondering , the Irvingtom ( NJ ) system the top vote reciever became the Mayor then the other postions were handed out to the rest of the selectmen.

HP ( my grandfather tied with someone once and while the other guy was asking for a recount and a runoff HP just waited then offered to let the other fellow be the nmayor if he could have the two cabinet positions he wanted at the same time. Answer was yes and HP became commisioner of revenue and finance so ran the police department and the banking and fginancials in town and was the real power behind the mayor who really just anted the title and the percs that came with it....

HP was a Progressive Roosevelt Republican reformer and spent his time cleaning up the town. Maybe that's why they don't mention him much but maybe he wanted it that way.
Interesting fellow I wish had not died before I was born. A banker. lawyer and politician back in the early days of progressivism when it really meant something to be one.

YMMV
