This 5 hour show will carry on the tradition established by VH1's highly successful "100 Greatest" specials featuring the top artists, women, songs and albums of popular music. This series combines artist interviews, photos and performance footage to tell the story of these controversial moments, from the assasination of John Lennon and Sinead O'Connor tearing up a photo of the Pope to Madonna's "Sex" book and Ozzy Osbourne biting the head off of a live dove.
VH1's "100 Most Shocking Moments in Rock & Roll" defines and analyzes those lighthearted, amazing, provocative, tragic or just-plain-surprising events that stopped time, grabbed worldwide headlines, and burned themselves into the collective consciousness of music fans over a half-century of rock history. Topping the list is the 1980 assassination of rock legend John Lennon, which still reverberates throughout the music world more than twenty years later.
Features exclusive new interviews with Boy George, Chuck D, Marianne Faithfull, Talking Heads' Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, Sammy Hagar, Moby, Spice Girls, Steve Vai and Dee Dee Ramone, and many others. Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath is host.
