It's a good idea voting by mail. I just don't understand how we would go about having any discussion over any matter. I think that the club needs to write a set of by-laws and run the meeetings and club business by the "Roberts Rules of Order". This would eliminate most problems. Everyone would still have to attend meetings.
If the voting was done by mail how would it be handled. We all meet to discuss the matter. Then assign somebody the task of mailing ballots. Allow 2 weeks for our ballots to recah us in Amarillo, and two weeks for them to get back to Garden City. Now we need to hire a law firm to count ballots so that there is no complaints about the ballots being stuffed or fixed. What about the guys that can't make the meeting for the discussion about the matters to be voted on. Now they are mad because they didn't get to voice their opinion. Well we are back to square one they have to make the meeting to have a voice.
You can't run a business of any kind ( besides mail order) through the mail. If the rules and decisions were being made through the mail we would still being trying to plan the banquet.
I understand that you have a new baby (congrats.) but I have 4 kids, 2 Grandchildren, and 3 Business that we take care of every day. I can plan weeks ahead of time to make the meeting. I understand that not everyone can make every meeting, but I know that Dwight, Mike, Jack or anybody will bring up anything that someone wants discussed.
I wish that I had the answer to the issue of getting every problem taken care of. The only way that I know of to address the majority of the problems is to explore them from all possible angles, and views. That is why everyones input is needed. You might bring attention to some little detail that everyone has over looked. Don't think that one person's opinion doesn't count because it does especially if it sheads light on a solution, or maybe to a possible problem.
Nothing ever gets resolved if everybody complains, gets mad, or walks out like a child.
I agree with you some things need to be changed. But if we keeping changing everything we will never get to the reason that we are all joined together, and that is to race and have fun. When it quits being fun we need to sell everything and do something else. Let's go with what we have for now and change things for the better next season.
