hey everyone!! i live in newbury a few minutes away from farwell and im in the 6th grade and every year one person in the 6th grade gets a scholarship to camp, and my friend Angela got it for farwell!!!
also we are studing poems and stuff in schoool and i thought of camp so i made an awesome gift for the camp!!!

Hey guys. Theres like less than 6 months until camp starts up again!!!! I am sssooo siked! My New Years resolution was to be a level 6 this year in swimming. So far my butterfly still sucks but I will fix it!!! I am so happy at all of the concelours coming back to camp!! 2010 will be the best!!

Oh my goodness. Today I got the BEST surprise phone call ever from some of my lovely, amazing, fantastic campers!!
It was so nice to speak to them, and I'm so excited to get back to camp next summer to see them and everyone else!

I have some bad news farwelliettes. I'm going in 1st session!!!! Well, it's kinda good news because i never checked out 1st session and it sounds really cool. I might even try out horseback riding!! I'm trying a lot of new things this year!! and i'm really excited about getting my sweatshirt this year!!! It's going to be my 5th year!! OMG!!!! i'm sooo excited!!! Hey everybody, was just checking out the website to see if any of u girlies had writen much....I cant wait to get my DVD!
At the moment I'm in sunny Spain....its still pretty warm here....and according to google earlier in the week it was supposed to snow in Vermont...so that pretty strange!
My new uni is like returning back to school...its such a strange place...a definate culture shock! If any of you guy get the opportunity to travel when your older this is a place worth seeing anyhow.
I hope you girls are well....I miss you all tons and hope your all having fun at school and counting down the days til camp next year :)

Hellllloooooo!!
Irati is visiting in Scotland and we've been talking about camp soooo much it has made us miss everybody like crazy! We are already looking forward to doing it again in 2010!! (I think it's the summer catch phrase Shelby!)
We met with Clare Campbell today, who was a riding counsellor in 2008 and we were telling her she has to come back next year!
We especially miss all our campers and all the girls we got to spend time with, and we really hope you're not taller than us next year!
We hope you are having a good year, and we can't wait until the video yearbook comes out!!
We love you all!!!

Lexie and her daughter came by today.
We enjoyed watching the baby be a baby.
Her eyes followed Lexie and when Lexie
wasn't in view, she would turn her body
around so she could see her mommy.
Lexie's lively dogs expected us to
throw sticks. The exercise was good.
We got tired before they did.
The early morning sky was a spectacular red
this morning. Everything below was bathed in
a red glow.
The lake reflected it.
The few areas of sky that weren't
red were a brilliant blue.
Nature's unexpected display was awesome but changed
quickly to normal morning skies.
In spite of old timer predictions concerning red
skies in the morning, we didn't
have bad weather today. Some clouds, some sun.
Bob sat outside reading for a while.
We hope you will post what's happening in your world.
Inquiring minds of summer friends want to know.

By this time the counselors should have left and the camp should be packed up.
The Hanson's and directors are ready to move on with the rest of the summer and then to the rest of the year, knowing that next year they will have to do exactly the same. [HOW DO YOU DO THAT?! ITS CRAZY!]
I want to thank everyone who came to camp this summer and shared those seven weeks with me. After camp ended I was immediately thrust back into the real world with errands to run and things to do. But you girls have all given me so much confidence in myself. I know I speak for Victoria T., when I say she has realized the same.
So girls, keep coming back year after year. Farwell brings out the strengths in yourselves and makes you love who you truly are.
Have a great year everyone, and EMAIL ME! I LOVE TO HEAR WHAT YOUR'E DOING!

Hey Everyone,
i just got back from my trip to California. It started out as just to Yosemite, but it then included San Francisco due to forest fires and rock slides. Quite the adventure! I almost got the hang out with a few counselors visiting there, but sadly it didn't work out. I heard they are having a great time though! I was just looking at all the pictures from second session and was wondering if the pictures of banquet and ice cream night were going to be posted?? I would love to see them, as i enjoy looking at all the pictures on Bunk 1

Hey Girlies!
School starts tomorrow : ( And I wish I was able to say I was feeling so much better and ready for school. Sadly, I've been feeling worse and worse since I've gotten home. This stupid illness has had a second wind and come back and made me as sick as I was when I left camp for a few days. However, school starts tomorrow and so I can't take time off to just chill and relax. What I thought was a basic flu- may be turning into a worse illness...I'll keep you posted for when I do start to feel better. But I wish I had the cheer from camp to make me feel better. Wow. I've only been away from my home underneath the pine trees for 3 hours and already it's felt like an eternity. It's unbelievable how fast the time flies. WE ALL SHOULD STOP BLINKING!!! :-). Well thanks to all of you at farwell, i've had another phenomenal summer with the best girls (and some guys) i could have ever asked for. To the CIT's: thanks for all of the support and friendships we have made. Banquet and everything else we did was amazing and i can't wait to see all of you soon. And to all of my friends and the staff, thanks for believing in us (the CIT's) that we could do banquet and help lead the camp. Sure as we know we needed the support to finally pull it together. We couldn't have done it without any one of you. And to everybody, thanks for making my summer at farwell 2009 one of the best. I love and miss you all! <3

Hey Everyone,
So i just got home about a half hour ago after saying my last goodbye, and am really missing all my friends from underneath the pines. Today was really tough, saying goodbye to all the counselors, and for me it was spread out throughout the day, so it seemed to drag on forever. I really hope everyone has an amazing time in their travels or at least on their journey home. Tizzy and Amina, it was great to see you when i dropped Irati off. My Campers: Aude, Victoria, Alice, Cameron, Morgan, Alison, Katie, Martha, Molly, Madison, Mikhal, Kayla, and Ziada: Thanks for the awesome summer, it wouldn't have been the same without you guys!!
Even though this was my 7th summer at farwell, it was definitely my favorite. I so enjoyed spending over 9 weeks up there instead of my usual 3. Thanks to all the campers, staff, and directors who made the summer what it was.
I hope everyone will keep using the message board throughout the year, i know i will. I'm going away for a week, but it will be one of the first things i will check when i come home.

I was in the supermarket and all of a sudded 'Time of Your Life' came on the radio and I almost started crying becasue it reminded me of camp! so here i am saying hola to everyone!
Just wanted to say hi to all the amazing people at Farwell: Sarah, Michelle, Jennie, Abi, Hayley, Keeley, and Sonja. And I wanted to thank all the wonderful counselors who made this summer as great as it was: Charlie, Ellie, Sophie, Sonja, Morvin, Debbie, Kat Emily Isaac Liam Luke and Hayley. You all made every activity loads of fun and I never really got to thank you for that. so THANKS!

my sister gillian, sophie and i went home today, and cried for the first hour. all i could hear was sniffling!! i miss camp so much. this was the best summer i have had yet, and i wish that i had stayed longer. i'm already thinking about farwell next year! as shelby says...in 2010, we'll do it again! i'm so sad to leave all my friends, but happy to be home.

Hello Farwell Gals,
I'm not positive if Farwell still posts the occasional message outside the dinning hall, or rather if anyone bothers to read them. However if you're like me you're probably trailing along the front deck waiting for dinner to start while sticking your nose into something to read on the front board. Well finally it looks like we've gotten some good summer weather down in CT, I'm not sure how the mountains of Vermont are fairing out with the sunshine. This is my final week at home so I've been packing and getting together last minute things so I can head off to my home under the pine trees. I hope everyone is having a blast at camp, I'm sure reguardless of the weather, you are all having fun. And some little bird told me the staff was tremendous this summer--hard to imagine Bob and Charyl having anything less than extradordinary. Today was my last day working at the hospital for this summer, and in about 4 days I'll being hitting the highway and traveling up to see all the beautiful smiling faces at camp. And an extra thanks for whoever uploads the pictures- they always put a smile on my face after a long day at work. For those of you who I may not see this summer, best of luck for the school year and I hope to hear from you all.

If you are new this year you don't know me, but the rest will. I miss you all so very much. It was a terrible choice I had to make not to return this year. I fought over it for almost two months.
I miss all your grumpy faces stumbling in first thing in the morning. Those beautiful faces greeting me in the afternoon, and the hugs and kisses when I went home at the end of the day.
I don't know how Farwell keeps finding the best of the best from all over the world but they do. The kitchen staff this year is amazing. I enjoy popping in and helping out you guys are great fun and hard workers.
Kate,Isaac, Liam, and Telmo: I remember you guys best, but there is so many others too. I love you all so so much. Have fun, be safe, and remember that you can call if you need any thing.
The girls from clinic week had a blast even with all the rain. Just thought you'd like to know.

hello all farwellites!
so here I am, sitting bemused at a desk, interning at a PR company in London, and what comes on the radio? ... Year 3000! :D Although I'm at the office i HAD to send a shout out to all the lovely people enjoying their summer in VT. After 6 amazing years and 1 visit, I can't believe I won't get to set foot in the pavillion or see everyone's amazing talents this year. For all you first years, enjoy the time you have at Farwell - once you let camp into your heart, it never leaves!
I know it's only first session, so this babble will be coming from a stranger for most of you, but of course i must say a huge hello and I MISS YOU to a Ms. Ellie Clough, a Ms. Tori Clough, and a Ms. Katy Sackman ... are Legs and Elena there as well yet? if so, you lovely girls, too! ah, well. have a blast this summer - hopefully I'll finally join you guys again next year :D

hey guys!!! it's me, lily sackman. i'm just checkin in. this summer it's going to be my 4th year!!! i am so excited!!! every day i think about camp farwell like what activities i'm going to do, and what i'm going to pack, also all the wonderful memories. hahahaha. i can't wait for the day to come. when my dad parks in the parking spot and i walk to the cabin i will be sleeping in for the next 3 weeks. I always have the feeling that i am so excited to be here once again to have a blast of summer fun but i am also getting the jitters of leaving home and having to take the deep water test in the deep dark lake where fishes nibble at my feet. whoa, i just totally got into writing mood there. okay, i will stop. anyway, IMANI DEAL IF YOU ARE READING THIS I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!! Those stubborn Brits turned up again to "take back the colonies."
A hard battle was fought. Both sides claim to have won the battle, however the territory is still under the control of the Americans.
OOPS, here they come again. Riders on horseback descending the hillside. The Americans recovered the mail in the early morning skirmish or so it was thought. The riders are delivering a packet, whether it is a message from their generals or mail they didn't surrender earlier is not clear at this point.
The horses are very well behaved and the riders make a fine spectacle.
Now they are returning from whence they came.
Peace reigns once again at Farwell as we look forward to afternoon and evening activities which include a reenactment of the Boston Tea Party and Farwell Fireworks over the Lake.

Hey Camp Farwell,
Guess what?? At 50, the 'King Of Pop' died. Yes, Michael Jackson. I was listning to Man In The Mirror on my ipod today. And i started to cry. SERIOUSLY!!! It's just so depressing. He changed pop so much. He created so many trends in clothing. Hairstyles, shoes, dance moves you name it. He was THE KING OF POP. Why did he have to die people?!?! Now, i know how it was like when John Lennon died. I never lived throught tough times like these ones. I don't know how to feel, sad, depressed, angry or frusterated. Yes, it is frusterating. He was only 50. Why did he have to die when i was starting to know his music more well, from all those camp experiences of at Lunch in the dining hall and when my whole cabin stood up when Man in The Mirror was playing and we lip singed. Or when my sister made a bet on how many times they will play 'Beat It' with her counsler. They played it 5 times in a row. Because, he was MICHAEL JACKSON. it's not the same as listening to 'Summer Days' from Grease or 'We Are The Champions' by Queen. It's just not the same. I can't resist listening to those songs again and again. But i never get tired of Michael Jackson. I hope people agree with me. Byeeeee. Can't wait till 2nd Session!!!
P.S. When i was listning to 'Man in The Mirror' i seriously, literally could smell the Sundays of Cookout and the Camp Fire from Camp Farwell. I love you guys

Hey guys so SUMMER 09 is nearly here and I am SO excited :) I fly out to NYC in 12 days and will arrive at camp in 13 days leaving little old England behind me for 3 months.
I cannot wait to see and spend my summer with returning staff, new staff, old and new campers :)
I'm also very excited to find out what the 2 musicals are that we get to do this summer :D and who my session 1 and session 2 cabins will be this year (BIG SHOUT OUT TO LAST YEARS SESSION 1 NUTCRACKER AND SESSION 2 ALOHA)
I hope to see some familiar faces in dance this summer ready to dance like nobody's watching and Michelle if your reading this, I am currently planning some new super lion goals like I promised you lol.

Hi everyone!
This is Alina posting, I attended Farwell for 3 years, including last summer.
Farwell is a very special place for me with great memories, but also a very pivotal memory--I had my first seizure at Farwell, '06. I can't speak more highly of the amazing way everyone at camp handled it. My counselor grabbed my stuffed animals and rode in the ambulance with me, and I still have the giant card you guys made for me, with a pink heart and stenciling, signed by everyone who was there during clinic week.
I have epilepsy, as you probably deduced from the above paragraph (visit www.epilepsy.com to learn more), and May 16, 2009, I am walking in the Walk for Epilepsy, along with some friends. Another Farwellite, Sarah (she's attended camp for 3 years and is going to be a CIT this year) is walking with me, too!
Since I know you all have great big hearts at Farwell, I'm asking for you Farwell born and Farwell bred girls to please donate!

Hey guys.
So, it's April 22nd. And to me that can only remind me that in two months it will be June 22nd...and school will be ending...and a couple of days after I will be packing and getting up to camp again for SEVEN WHOLE WEEKS.
Last night and the night before it was raining and thundering outside and I intentionally opened my window very wide for it to remind me of those long cold nights at camp. It very much so worked. Despite the corniness.
Anyways I'm very excited to be a C.I.T. I really don't doubt that any girls in my cabin I will love and adore!

Hey everyone! How are you?! I hope you all remember me (except for those people who just came to Farwell last year)! But anyway, I just realized that I forgot to post the other day when I really meant to - because I saw Zaida Garcia! =D We both live in the city but for some strange reason, we have never managed to get together in the past few yrs until now! It was so nice to catch up with an old camp friend, something that does not always work well outside of camp since camp friends do not always mesh well with a real life setting, but I was so happy to hear about Farwell as of last summer and to see a warm and friendly face - I love you, Zaida! - But anyway, I'm wishing everyone else the best and hope I can come down and visit next summer for a day! I miss you all! :D
I can hardly believe it's been so long since I first started going to Farwell. I was only 8, and it was always a big part of my life thereafter. My second home. My escape from life for just a few months. When life wasn't treating me well, it was always a safe haven that consoled me. I cannot fully express in words how much my time at Farwell meant to me, but I am eternally grateful for the time I spent in Vermont, and I got to know some amazing, unforgettable people who have made all the difference in my life. Thank you so much to everyone who made such an incredible experience possible. You are amazing!
I am currently in the process of applying to college and am now just waiting for acceptance letters. It's really exciting but at the same time extremely nerve-wracking and suspenseful. It seems like such a big, new, and important part of my life is just around the corner, and I can't wait! I also went to Ireland last summer on a community service program, mind you, with people I had never met beforehand, instead of camp, the first time I did something completely and utterly impulsive. But I just knew it was right and it was an absolutely life-changing experience, something that taught me that sometimes the most significant turning points in your life can materialize when you least expect them to and when you just go with the flow and follow your natural instincts. At this point, I still have no clue what I want to do with myself this summer, but I am sure that sooner or later the answer will come to me.

OK go to the pics and look at the snow ones theirs me and mi dad we live 5 to 10 min. away so i come and visit a lot and go to the staff thing john is my dad !!! he worked there for a while. its so fun there even though this is my 2 year i have been there at least 50 times lol =) i love farwell and will work there until im a director i told charyl that 2 to 3 weeks ago

Hello Girls!
As usual, I am awful at keeping up during the year, and find myself rather busy...which is a terrible excuse for not keeping up on the message board. However, I have tons of free time on my hands right now, because I am very sick with a terrible flu. ickky. I've been sick for about a month now, and I'm getting very sick of being sick!! However, it brightens my day that the summer is just around the bend and will be here before we know it. And with luck I will be much better by then. I have checked out the new website, and I wanted to compliment Charyl on her hard work, it looks terrific! I was also pleased to see how many returning staff there are so far, lots of familiar faces, and some faces from the past.
I was talking to my dear friend Katy Sackman yesterday and most of our conversation after catching up with eachother, revolved around pre-camp excitment. Anywho, besides a terrible bug, as is well back here in Hamden. We haven't had a bad snow storm in a while, which I am happy about, so crossing my fingers I hope there is no more snow for the season, and we can pass into SPRING. Allegra and I are doing well, and everything has remained eventless in Hamden, which I supposed is probably good. Anywho, hopefully in a few days I'll be back on my toes and feeling well again. I hope everyone has a good rest of their term, and with their studies, and I can't wait to be back under the pines trees, laughing and smiling.

Ode to Farwell
I am ready to jump of the docks and into the lake at farwell. Listen to the crickets and the sound of laughter as i sit in my bunk at night, hear the donkey's heh hawing when i could still be sleeping. Watch Shelby give the morning announcements as i eat. Wait for my counsler to bring in the mail during quiet time. Have those first day jitters as i choose my activities, haul the super heavy laundry bag down to the wash room. And finally at the end of the day get in that big circle and sing... Camp Farwell CAmp Farwell we love so our dear camp in Vermont we here your call neath the pines Camp Farwell... turn around and head to our cabin for a deep sleep
