In responce to question 5 of a sibling being spared from a genetic mutation, it truly is a tug-of-war of emotions. I think that if I were the one afflicted I would feel better equipt than my sister to try and combat the disease. I am the type of personality that would rather go through a hard experience than watch others go through it. I think that for many people feelings of resentment and blame would be felt toward the other person. On the flip side, my sister was the one with the disease I would wonder what else could be wrong with me that I was exempt from that particular disease. I would look more at my life and past to see if the genetics test was wrong in any way and try to see if I was more prone to another type of disorder.
I think one aspect of genetic disorders that makes them unique is that no one is to blame. Parents are unaware of what they could be carriers for and to some degree it is very comforting that no one person is directly to blame for the results.
