For obvious reasons, Sherry feels remote and isolated. I agree with Alyxa's suggestions on ways to counsel her through this rough ordeal. Even though one may think it obvious and think that the afflicted individual already knows, it is still important for one to reaffirm their love and support for the patient. It has often been said that being emotionally and mentally strong is the equivilant to winning half the battle of cancer. Moreover, one might suggest that Sherry go see a counselor or therapist in order to speak her thoughts aloud and clear her mind. Getting issues out into the open often makes solutions to them more apparent. Furthermore, Sherry should realize that although cancer is a major difference between her and Lani, it should not cause a rift in their relationship. Instead, the cancer shold bring the two closer as they work as a team to battle it. With the support and love of her sister, family, and friends, Sherry will be more open to possible treatments, sacrifices, and pain that will be endured during her cancer battle.
