If a sibling was "spared" of a genetic mutation, and I was not, I would have a great feeling of resentment. I would have a feeling that life was unfair in the case that my sister or brother did not have a genetic mutation, but I in fact did. At first, I would probably wish that they had the genetic mutation and not me. I feel after time, however, I would be more accepting of the fact they I was the one effected and not them, and somehow feel grateful that they were not the ones with the genetic mutation. Another factor could also be the type of genetic mutation, whether it is life threatening, curable, being treated through medication, or may not have any effects at all. If the tables were turned however, I would have a great amount of guilt and a small feeling of relief. I would feel guilty because a sibling, who has the same chances at birth to inherit the same genes as me, was afflicted with a genetic mutation, and I was luckily spared. Depending on the type of genetic mutation, I would try my hardest to help my brother or sister out in any way.
