I agree with Lauren. Learning that you are free from the genetic marker through the BRCA1 test can provide a false sense of security. As Lauren says, only a small percentage of breast cancer is caused by inherited gene mutations, so that still leaves Lani with a large chance of developing breast cancer through a way unrelated to genes. Also, this test is only a marker for breast cancer and ovarian cancer. This does not include all of the other kinds of cancer that Lani could develop and that the test does not tell her about. The test results, however, could make Lani think she will never get cancer and thus give her a false sense of security.
