I agree that a negative result can lead to a false sense of security. As Marissa pointed out, there is only a small percentage of breast cancer that is caused by genetic mutations. Lani's relief about being "spared" of this genetic mutation could actually do more harm than good. As Marissa said, there are other ways to get breast cancer and precautions still need to be taken. If Lani is relieved she was "spared" she may not take neccessary precautions regarding other ways to develop cancer. There is nothing wrong with being relieved over not having the genetic mutation, but not having the mutation does not mean she is immune to getting cancer.
