I think that a negative result can definitely give someone a false sense of security. If only a small percentage of breat cancers are caused by genetic mutations, that leaves room for many other possibilities for the cancers to develop. In this particular situation, I think Lani is wrong to think that she "has been spared." Just because her test reults were negative, that does not mean she cannot get cancer. It would behoove her to not stop taking precautions and to be very thoughful of the fact that she might still, in fact, get cancer.
