I completely agree with Fiona in that, because she is my sister, I should be thankful that she at least is spared from the genetic mutation from which I am afflicted. Self-isolation would be a death sentence in itself if an afflicted individual chose to separate his or herself from his or her loved ones. During a difficult time such as living with a genetic mutation, one needs support and encouragement. If living with such a mutation, who would be better than my sister to support and love me? She would probably have better knowledge of the disease than most others because she had potential to acquire it; therefore, she would be an educated and sympathetic supporter. In turn, if I were spared from a genetic mutation that my sister had, I would be there, also, to help and love her at all times. I identify with Fiona in that if I could not relate with what my sister was going through, I would still get her the help and guidance she needed, and continuously search for a cure.
