I agree with Natalie that positive results may not always be the worst news, and vice versa. Though Sherry has indeed inherited BRCA1, she is fortunate to have received this news early enough in her life that she has time to take action; if she does develop breast cancer, she will be prepared and, with her participation in the NIH study, may have even helped to further the progress of any possible cure. Besides, Sherry is secure in the knowledge that her sister Lani has been spared; Lani, who has received negative results, cannot say the same for her sister Sherry. Perhaps Lani has a greater burden than her sister because, being one to desire control, she may feel that it is her duty to �save� her sister. She may suffer guilt if she does not succeed; she feels remorse already that she has been spared. Also, as Natalie said, other factors contribute to breast cancer besides BRCA1; Lani still has a very good chance of developing breast cancer.
