I also think that Janet's children should be warned that they have a risk of getting the gene mutation for Alzheimer's. They will start to wonder about their own future when their mother's body starts to deteriorate. If they are worried or curious about their future health they can get tested as well. This can be helpful or hurtful. It can help someone plan to do things that they have always wanted to do or just enjoy life more. It can be hurtful to find out because medical companies might not support you any more or you could go into depression. Finding out that there is a great risk could be ver harmful to some people. He/she will start not caring about life and just focusing on the fact that he/she has a high risk of developing the disease from the mutated gene. I think the individual has the right to make the final decision about being tested but the family and the doctor should have some input in making the decision. The family will ultimately have to deal with the results along with the suffering individual.
