I agree with Kara's thoughts on whether or not children should be informed about the genetic inheritance. Children that are members of a family with an inheritance for Alzheimer's, or any disease for that matter, have a right to know about it. Also as Kara points out, even if they are not told they will still see those who contract the disease in their family suffer from it. Then they will most likely be tested themselves anyway. Also, I agree in saying that family members should have a say in genetic testing. Positive results can affect their decision on whether or not they woud like to be tested. They also will have to watch a loved one suffer if there are positive results. The results will affect them just as much as they would affect the patient.
