Typically, I wouldn't spend too much time on a reply but this particular thread hit me at a time I was thinking just along its lines so I will free wheel a little bit and see what jars loose from my head.

As an artist myself - and a fan of the show - it is negative in my perspective that I don't get to hear from the main actress of the show regarding her perspective, motivations and thoughts from the series. SMG, basically was the show, and someone like me who is naturally inquisitive about the process of making this artform ,how to write, direct, produce and act it feels disappointment at not being able to learn from the crux of the matter. This is where my negativity amd disappointment begins and ends. She can act in any manner she wishes as well she should.

In general, and I would say this to any actor, director or producer or whatever (everybody really but to a greater extent here because of the public eye) , perception is important. Sometimes the mere perception of the kind of person they are can make a huge difference with the fans and this is directly related to both their popularity and thus marketability. This can mean having work or not having work. So, also like everywhere and everyone in life, perception means a lot. The people that enjoy their work are, in the end, are their employers and the reason they can practice a craft that very few get to enjoy and even less get to enjoy for long. Also the competition is high, if they go out of favor, someone else is there to step into your seat. Again just freewriting here and I don't have any reason to believe she currently has anything to worry about.

All I know is she didn't participate in one of the major bridges between BTVS and its fans that their will probably ever be (from here on) and most (yes not all) commentaries are strikingly similar and impersonable. I think these are facts not negative comments but as you pointed out it is "eye of the beholdery" time. Freewrite ends now.
