Ya know ....

after a person makes a few dozen rounds of channel surfin' they begin to understand a few things about TV.

Frankly it sucks.

and it ain't gettin' better.

The reality mystique for me had melted away long ago and as inane show after inane show parades in front of my eyes I begin to drift off to those wonderful days of knowing a well produced and written television program might take me away from my troubles for an hour or so. Certainly not be a constant reminder of the sad pathetic souls from our society whose only wish is to make a splash - of any sort -in your my room.

Random thought: Is there such a thing as positive art? I mean - art that uplifts and celebrates the good of a society and culture and purposely means to do so. It sometimes seems that the creative spirit might come from some darker place than this one in sunlight. Art can come from pain - thus the dark and wretchedness - but can it be derived from joy - and if not - what does that say(?). I know art at times seeks to change the way things are due to injustice but couldn't it become something of a negative force if all there is the constant heaving and bellowing of wrongs. I don't mean paintings of flowers are evil because they are not and they can be uplifting but does depth of meaning mean sorrow and displacement. Is there such a thing as positive art?
