I can see how Buffy might be dismissed out of hand, but he also might recognize that she could be his best sounding board in this instance. Willow, ok so she would just refer him elsewhere anyways and maybe he thought with the whole Xander/Anya wedding being just days away they were too busy.

But how do you get around Giles? Only by recognizing Wesley's deep seated if believable character flaws. He had options. He chose not to avail himself of them.
