It is really great of you chaps to share this tantalising information. If I can get it to work, this stuff is worth its weight in gold. I feel pleased for Lew.

I have consulted the Lyngsat Eutelsat W2 table, swung my spare dish away from Sirius (it feels good) at 3º E to 16º E, and can confirm reception loud and clear of Georgia MUX (what is a MUX?), Romania News, and Italian Gay TV, among others. Wonderful what you can get out there.

However, if I put in any of the Lyngsat values for the BBC radio channels, the receiver (Nokia Mediamaster 9802S) stores some unnamed "TV" (sic?) channels, on which I recieve zilch sound and zilch video.

I am doing something wrong. Apart from V-PID and A-PID, the receiver would like to know another PID to do full manual reception settings, but it still scans and doesn't find anything new. Lyngsat has a cryptic number (Radio 1 is 14336) in green but this is apparently a "SID", and I don't think this is the unknown "PID". If I leave this PID blank it still works for most else.

Can anyone help or advise?

New subject.

Lew, I just have this thing about Radio 3. My local equivalent is technically, acoustically, and musically out of the reject bin in comparison. It is broadcast with massive compression and clearly intended for people to have it on in cars, and noisly ones at that. Yes, I can get Classic FM, but I am not into chilling out with smooooth classics and self-congratulatory tosh.

The exception to the local FM fare, for insomniacs, is the wonderful Euroclass Notturno, which is how Classic FM ought to be.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/classical/notturno.shtml

It is all done by satellite uplink to the local terrestrial broadcaster. Where I live, I have a choice of two languages in which not to understand (much) the continuity announcements. But I would still much rather get even that on Radio 3, where it is called "Through the Night". The sound quality is better on satellite, too.

Anyway, can any one help my family and solve the PID/SID problem, if that is what it is?

All the best.
