I couldn't agree more. As a matter of fact, three of "my actors" (DW, John Hurt and Henri Guybet) have been in so much cheesy stuff... I call them the "Camembert Trio" (with affection of course). I'm really impressed when they shine in a rotten flick. It must be much harder to act well in something that you know is way past salvation right from the very first day of shooting. They are Les Grands Maîtres du Fromage.
And, let's face it: isn't it much better for DW to do an obscure voiceover for McDonald's that absolutely no one will remember in six months than star in a career-breaking vehicle like Naked Souls? A NS video will always be available somewhere in the world...

Yes, it can. Especially if the prettiness is too conventional. When you look like a hundred other actors, it must be next to impossible to get yourself noticed. I'm sure that Sam is a much better actor than his American look-alike, Ryan Philippe, but Philippe is the one who is a star.

The thing is... When an actor plays a lot of quirky small parts, directors have trouble to imagine him as a sensitive, intelligent, normal human being (a regular lead role) and they just give him more quirky small parts. That's what happened to Guybet. Sure, he got to play several second male leads and three starring roles during his movie career, but he didn't have the career that a man with his talent would have deserved. Compared to him, and to Sam West until now, our DW has been pretty lucky.

Maybe! I really wish him the best. Besides, the HFP sure deserves to see her god in at least one good starring role in one good movie...
