The problem is not specific to Windows ME, but with the USB ports on various systems. I've sent 4 Palm m515's back. Palm finally sent me a serial hotsynch cradle. Ever since, the problem has gone away. This tells me that there is a ground problem with the USB cradle. I think Palm has a serious quality control problem with m500 series. I've had my m515 for months and hotsynched with no problems. I would stay away from using USB hotsynching for now. Call Palm and get them to send you a serial cradle.
