Group W also syndicated a late-night Steve Allen show in the early 1960s and the David Frost afternoon talk show in the early 1970s.

When Steve Allen gave up his show circa 1964, his replacement was briefly Regis Philbin, then Merv Griffin replaced him, with Arthur Treacher (the English actor who later lent his name to the fast food chain) in the Ed McMahon seat.

Herman's Hermits were the guests one night, and in talking with Merv, Herman got a big laugh my mispronouncing Baltimore. Arthur pointed out that "I'm Henry VIII I Am" was a very old music hall song and proceeded to sing it. Another time Arthur did a live Glad Bags commercial in a Man from Glad wig and getup.

Also, I'm pretty sure John Lennon and Yoko Ono were Mike Douglas' co-hosts for an entire week. I think this week was during John and Yoko's initial sojourn in New York when they made the album "Some Time in New York City" because David Peel did some numbers with them on the show. Mike's show originated in Cleveland at first and then moved to Philadelphia with the rest of KYW.
