Geez Geoff! I don't have access to the original prints, only the reruns shown on TV Land in 2000, so pardon the error. My point was that the script had not yet made it clear to the viewer that Bub was gone for good, but that subtleties, like the scene between Bub and Chip, were dropping hints to the viewer that Bub wouldn't be back, which the producers had already decided. That is how I read it anyway. Since I don't have the original print, am I correct in assuming that Bub was left out of the credits for the 1/14/65 episode? Whatever the opening credits said in the original print, it was Uncle's Charly's debut, as a regular. Which was the first episode that did have Demarest in the opening credits as originally shown? And BTW, how did you obtain the original?

Thanks.
