I thought I'd stop by a few different state boards to check out the scene, since certain boards that I have enjoyed so much in the past have taken a turn in the wrong direction and are flooded with comments that aren't posted for any other reason than to be mean spirited or to hurt people's feelings...so I've taken my thoughts, opinions and knowledge elsewhere...I hope the things I offer along the way are helpful and maybe a bit entertaining to at least some of you. Anyway, I took a peek at the headshots on the Miss Michigan USA website, and since I'm not "in tune" with who's who in the pageant, I figured it couldn't get much more objective than this... OK, here we go: It's SO HARD to get a sense of what some of these girls really look like when they use Sam T'ang. He's a great photographer, and he strives for perfection, but some of these women look TOO perfect, and that's a set-up for a letdown by many. Anyway, Stephanie Wolgamuth jumps out at me, and from what I can see, I can totally see her on the Miss USA stage, depending on other factors (such as height, body, etc.). Courtney Dolecki has a natural, sporty feel to her, and I like that (MINUS the Barbra Streisand french tip action in the shot)...I hope she's tall and has a killer figure. Danelle Gay looks like my sister-in-law, so she's in! (Just kidding). She looks friendly and approachable, and I bet she has an awesome personality to match. LaShana Gardner is very pretty, and I like the feel of her photo as well. She seems like she gives a great interview. If her body and gown selection are top-notch, I could see her as a front-runner. Christina Hudson...this one says "Shauntay Hinton...Part II." It takes a solid sense of self confidence in other parts of your persona (and body) to not have to rely on long, sexy hair to feel sexy...Get my drift? Sara Ness...my photogenic winner. Gorgeous eyes, and no Sam T'ang needed to pull off a photogenic win, at least in my book... ;-) Sabrina Frawley...A little on the pageanty side, and her smile seems a little ventriloquist like, but she has major potential. Tonya Tibbs...This one belongs in the top 5 on her headshot alone. I love her look, the pose and her hair is fashion-forward without being too trendy. Anna Whiting...is she related to Anna Hanks? She could be, at least to me. If she's just as tall, WATCH OUT! So there you have it...my picks based on nothing more than headshots...How did I do? LOL! builtboy

I do not think it is justifiable that you are making predictions based solely on photos. The judging criteria extends much more than that. Good luck to ALL Michigan girls. It was so fabulous last year and both winners were so deserving as all the young girls who have represented Michigan have been. I am very proud of them all and extremely excited at how well our two girls did this year at nationals. It is really disappointing when you get all the trash talk on boards like this. Last year after the pageant it was just a discusting display of negativity, sour grapes and bad attitudes. I am very proud of our state and the Miss Michigan and teen pageant here and again very proud of our girls that represent us from all over the state.

They are the complete package. I think Nicole Minder is too young, Jasmeen Hankard and Brandi Allion have a good photo (only). Don't know much else! I think this is going to be a great year. I do think the girl that takes home the crown will be one that either really, really worked for it, or maybe a girl that no one is noticing that will be stunning. Gina Bjorkman, Very natural and pretty, also heard in her prelim that she had quite the bod! Jaclyn Bradley, I had her on my maybe list for top 15 last year. She is really pretty on stage. Cynthia Cooper, she is very pretty and very natural looking, also looks very confident. Lynn Davidson, will have some experience behind her. Courtney Dolecki, how cute is she, can't wait to see her in person and all dolled up she could be WOW Jamie Flaherty, very exotic and think she is very pretty Danelle Gay, BEAMS on stage.. Erica Harritt, I liked her at her prelim she won. She needs help and maybe the hair needed to be softer but she looked like model Crystal Hayes, a lovely teen and think she will make just as lovely a miss Christina Hudson, confidence and elegant Ashley John, I think she will surprise all, she tends to have a cute look, but think she will be more stunning and elegant this time around Kristin Kays, stunning face Lauren Kralowski, this girl is beautiful and did well last year Stacey Lee, love this pic of her. Will probably be a crowd favorite..will need to have stepped it up a notch this year 1st runner up is a hard position to be in Michelle Makarewicz, this girl is a hotty Kira Maples, she looks familar? Would like to see her smile, has a pretty face Brandi McClain, another cutie pie Nichol Minder, would have liked to have seen more from this one as far as a pic but did see her in her prelim and last year at teen...what a bod Sara Ness, OH MY GOSH, is this the same teen from last year? I had her on my bubble list last year. STUNNING face, but she needed guidance...WOW, if she looks like this on stage, wears her make-up like this, a slicked look like Kandace Krueger former Miss USA and get's a tan and has boo koo confidence, she could be the one to beat..She looks great. Angel Nocis, so very cute on stage, just wait Sabrina Frawley, oh yes will have the experience Janice Simbob, another hotty Stacey Smith, a classic beauty Terese Swamba, like her look her, she needed the change Tonya Tibbs, great picture Lindsey Tycholiz, won a prelim, must have something, looks elegant Melissa VanOverbeke, can't believe more people are not talking about her, she has placed very high every time Anna Whiting, pretty one Stephanie Wolgamuth, liked her a lot last year. That is almost 30 girls, plus so many of others have experience or may just be wonderful in person. This will be a great competition.

Most importantly cause my niece is a delegate and my sister has some concerns regarding propaganda she has been deluged resonantly. Understanding the closer we get to the weekend the more gossipmonger being to appear out of nowhere. This is a part of human nature that we have no control over. Any sensationalism that seems questionable I have investigated to see if any validity existed. I have informed my sister of the concern that I feel should be looked in to further and like to share the concerns with the views of this board. The heading of this board that news worthy info is accepted. First I looked inn to the statement regarding Kent Parham. It is a fact that he works for USA org, and that he does give lesson to girls that can afford girls his high rates. It is legal for him to do both of these jobs at the same time. I will say thought " code of ethics" that has been totally over looked by the org. in this case you have an employee that excepts referrals to train in the org that they will be judged. This falls under " conflict of interest" and as I have informed my sister I feel it necessary to pass this information on to you the readers of this post. In answer to this response that Kent does this all the time, and girls can hire him, all I can say is kudos to all the girls that are privy to that information. Does the director really believe that every young girl has access to that info? Before cashing any application fees does she make sure the girls understand what will be expected of them? Is there a list out there that my niece mistakenly did not receive, of trainers, professional photography, and coaches they need to employ in the top 10%? Shouldn�t it be left up the girls and their family to decide if they can afford this to compete or save their money for a sure thing like education? I will closely watch this event and like others take many notes. My advise to my sister is to get her money back and put it to better use. There are many more discrepancies found that need to me addressed in this letter and many more will be filed, copied, and sent along with a list of complaints, and unethical behavior of its employees. I hope I have helped you girls better understand what you are up against. Good luck in your future endeavors and remember a crown does not make you a young lady.

Miss USA is totally groomed from head to toe by the people at Miss Universe, walk,pictures, talk, gown everything. It also does not matter were you are on stage. If you can dance you dance, if you can't you walk. He has coached many girls in Michigan, with no foul play. He also has seminars & many girls from TN, TX and GA go to those. Not to mention every state has photographers,gown people & coaches that are directly connected to the state pageant more than a cheographer? You have a very reputabe state program with a director that is very compasionate about the organization. You are mearly hearing gossip. I have been witnessing the pageant for years and have been a former contestant. It is viewed as one of the strongest state pageants in the country as well. Just saw Elisa on Fear Factor for the first time! WOW! She was just awesome. She had a bad break while diving in the tank. It took her so much longer to find the right thermos, but in reality she was by far the toughest. She was in guts longer, and took it. I was shocked anyone could ever do that. I believe she really wanted to win for her state! I think she is the best representation Michigan has ever had in any National Pageant! Thank you Elisa for giving Michigan the best you have to offer, Yourself! You are awesome! WOW! I really saw another side of you. WOW!
