I found a death for a Terence John Barry aged 55 who died in 2003, giving him a birth year of about 1948. His death notice was placed in the Canberra Times. Might this be the son of Terry and Catherine? I found the entry at:

If the family are still in the Canberra area it might be worth placing a notice in the Canberra Times newspaper. The CT might have a "family history" section where you can place a message for free. The web site is
http://www.theworldpress.com/press/worldpress/australiapress/canberra.htm
The Sydney Morning Herald has a column where you can place a notice for free, requesting information. It is called the RSVP column. email rsvp@smh.com.au
Another Sydney paper The Daily Telegraph has a free "IN SEARCH" column. Send submission to: letters@dailytelegraph.com.au
The Womans Day magazine has a Helpline column where you can place a querie for free. The web address is
http://womansday.ninemsn.com.au/talktous/default.aspx
Its circulation is Australia wide.
Regards,
Julie-Ann
