- Corbin married Johnson in Lismore 1911 -- Ruth Helen van Aaken, 07:32:18 12/11/05 Sun (adl-pow-pr3.tpgi.com.au/202.7.183.132)
My great grandfather came for England in 1961. His name was James Bentley Corbin and he married Margaret Mary Clancy at Concord in 1868. They had 9 children. Their eldest Harry James Corbin (registered as Harry at birth and as Henry on his death) married a Barbara Ellerston Woolacott from Victoria in 1901. They had one child registered as Ernest James Corbin. Harry died in 1908 and his son is shown on his death certificate as 3 years old.
In 1911, Barbara marries Horatio Ernest Johnson the youngest of 13 children. He has 13 children himself before marrying Barbara Corbin. It appears they may have lived at Bangalow. She is shown on the family tree as I have been informed by a descendant. There is no mention of the child Ernest. I have searched http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/ but to no avail.
Would it be possible to trace Barbara Johnson's death in the area or that of her son Ernest who may have had his name changed to Johnson. As a family we are concerned about what happened to Ernest and if he had any offspring and so living relatives today. I am considered the family historian and am currently building a website which is in my signature below. We have located over 300 descendants of James Bentley Corbin living or dead and if we can locate this family, we'd be thrilled.
Thank you
Regards
Ruth Helen van Aaken nee Corbin

- James Collins Bombala NSW -- John Owen, 14:17:52 05/04/05 Wed (gos-ts1-2600.tpgi.com.au/202.7.171.22)
I am trying to track down information on my Great Grandfather, James Collins. I believe he was born c.1848 in Sydney and then became a selector/settler at Haydon Springs, Bombala, NSW. He married Selena Arnold on 3 Jan 1874 at St Andrew's Nimmitabel NSW. It would appear that they had twelve children, including twin girls. Their 7th born was Henry d'Arcy who was my grandfather.
James was clearly a "colourful character". He gave no information about himself on official documents (Wedding, Children's Birth, etc). He claimed to have changed his name from Macarthur-Onslow to Collins which I have been able to disprove. My Aunt testifies to seeing him light cigars with one pound notes when she was a child.
Any information anybody might have would be appreciated.

If you can run large fiscal deficits without raising the price of home financing, that sort of changes the dynamic -- all the costs are future costs. In this case, global markets may have worked to subvert natural market discipline

- Searching for Moloney, Coleman, Hall, McCarthy links -- Chris, 19:13:59 11/12/04 Fri (220-244-42-198-nsw.tpgi.com.au/220.244.42.198)
I'm looking for family of John Moloney and Ellen Merrick. Ellen arrived in 1863 in Sydney and John in 1864. They were married in 1864 in Sydney. They had 8 children, Mary and Ellen were born in Sofala in 1866 and 1867. The family moved to Pitt Street Redfern sometime before 1870 where Patrick Joseph, William, Bridget, Alice and Margaret Teresa and John were born. It also moved to Bowling Alley Point (near Nundle) in the 1890s.
I think Ellen married William Coleman (possibly from Wilcannia) in 1890, Bridget married Alf Hall, and Margaret Teresa married Owen McCarthy. I dont know anything about Mary, Patrick Joseph, William or John. Alice died as an infant.
I think John jnr may have joined the post office at Petersham and he may have lived later at Manly.
Ellen Merrick had a sister Alice and a brother Patrick in Australia also. I think another sister Bridget was also here. Ellen and John (Moloney) were both born in Tower Hill in County Limerick (I think) but John may have been living in Dromalta (Co Limerick) before embarkation.
If anyone can help me with any of these I'd like to hear from you.

- Joseph Whitfield born 1848 Workington Cumberland England -- Pauline Thomas, 23:12:24 01/09/07 Tue (user-544037d4.l6.c3.dsl.pol.co.uk/84.64.55.212)
Joseph Whitfield was born 1848 in Workington, Cumberland, England to John and Mary Whitfield (nee Beeby).
Around 1875 (after the birth of his third son) in Hartlepool, Durham he deserted his wife and family.
It is likely that he travelled to Australia to join his brother William who was a Mariner in the Brisbane area around this time - altho' his travels took him around Australia, William eventually married in Mittagong in 1879.
Joseph's deserted wife in England eventually remarried as a Widow in 1886, legally she could have assumed Widowship after over 7 years of desertion or did she hear of Joseph's death by another means ?
Joseph was a Slater by trade.
After years of searching for my great Grandfather Joseph Whitfield I have drawn complete blanks and I would be so grateful for any help, however small.
Regards, Pauline Thomas (nee Whitfield)

I am trying to locate any details about Archibald Ernest McLEISH. He was last heard of in Streaky Bay in 1927. He was travelling with Christopher McDermott. Archibald was born in Broken Hill, and his parent's were James & Ruth McLeish Nee Crowhurst. Christopher died in the West Australian gold fields, but I have been unsuccessful in finding out anything on Archibald. He was my Gran's brother, and after a argument with his father, walked out of the family home and nobody heard from him again. Jenny Watson
