Hi there. I have no personal interest in this application other than that as a Parish Councillor. Granted it will be on the park near to where I live but this doesn't mean I cannot sit on the PC planning committee as this is neither a "financial" or "personal" prejudice. It just means that I can, more easily, solicit the opinions of the villagers who will be most affected by it.

I oppose this application as I do not believe that concreting the last truly open spaces in the village is what is best for future generations of villagers. I believe that we, as a parish, have a care of duty to preserve the nature of the village for our kids & their kids. (Again, no personal interest, I don't have children).

The reason that I am not on the planning committee is that it would be a further 12 meetings a year to prepare for, and attend. (This isn't selfish, as I already serve on the full council, Parks/Amenities & Website/Publicity committees). When I joined the PC my job was evenings-based and I still get work-related calls in the evening.

In this instance, though, I would have been outvoted as the Jelsons section-106 money for the memorial hall (and other things) is seen as more important for the future of the village than preserving our rural setting.

Councillor Harper-Davies is not supporting the Jelson bid (on Jelson's behalf) but on behalf of the parish & her constituents. This is possible as she is supporting the decision made - on behalf of the village - by the Parish Council. As such, she is performing her duty to the village.

I am saddened by the result of this as - to the majority of villagers - it does look like a u-turn by the Parish Council.

(I cannot claim a "conspiracy theory" but, I did think something strange was happening when the 3rd Jelson plan was submitted. On every plan I have emailed our CBC councillors to ask for support in opposing the application. On the 1st & 2nd applications I had a positive response by return of email. For this, 3rd, application, none of them bothered to reply).

Again, these are my personal views and do not, necessarily, reflect the views or opinions of any organisation of which I am a member.
