The voices within the Bushi stilled; the normal battle within his mind for control by Seelie or Unseelie forces paused, letting the sheer training of his life take control. There would be no bravado from the Troubador side of him, nor certainty of his failure from the Wretch.

There was simply calm, balance within his mind and body, and the familiar feeling of being at one with both the ground under his hooves and the long blade at his side. This was the fate that his life centered around, the axis of his life upon this world. Each day that he rose, he prepared for this moment, where in the single stroke of a blade, his life would continue, or it would end. Each day he rose, he prepared himself to die for his lord and his ideals.

This was the Way of the Warrior.

For a moment, there was no difference between the Edo Ikari of now, and the one of his youth; the vibrancy of his strength flowed through him, the certainty of his step and his Way. There was no duty, no responsiblity, and no history and weighed upon his shoulders. There was only himself, his blade, and the enemy.

It was taught to the Bushi, when he had first started to walk the Way, that in any given circumstance, two warriors will face. If the samurai is resolved and prepared, in his heart and his spirit, to meet death facing the enemy, he will persevere. It is the swordsman who is unresolved to die who will fail.

Edo Ikari was reoslved, in that moment, to die free. And yet there was always forms to be followed, politeness and etiquette, even between two who would face each other. Even as each knew the other prepared for the strike that would come, the dance to begin such was complicated and intricate; combining what both knew to be their Way, and the forms of politness that was demanded by the feality chain.

Their eye's met; each knowing that the strike never came from the sword, nor the arms, nor even the torso. It came from the eyes.

"So, noble sir, you were going to tell me of Ian, and what he stole from you, in more detail, hai?"
