No, not Aiki, his mind tells him as his eyes race along the edges of his cage in some effort to find some means of leaving. The weight of what he just watched settles onto his shoulders with a familair guilt, the spirits of his ancestors feeling as if to leave him to the fate his mind told him that he richly deserved.

The bushi kneeled to the ground, resting back on his legs within the hakama. Closing his eyes for a moment he meditated, letting some of the weariness wash over him as he forced himself to be aware of his surroundings. Sherwood watched him for a moment before the samurai reached out one hand, the chi flowing through him to bring the lamp skittering along the floor and through the bars.

His voice was soft, calm and meditative, despite the interal storms that roiled over his spirit. "Sherwood... do you know where the key to this cage rests?"

Something had sprouted, deep within the spirit of the wounded samurai. This time he would save her, this time it would be different.
