As Matsu nears a particular nook in the mass of nonsense piled in that corner, she half turns to look at Ikari, answering in Japanese. "Master Detrik would be just as lost without the house... the two take care of each other rather well."

She moves to say something further, but before she can speak, shadowy hands grip her, the blackness of them soiling her white fur. A rope snare is thrown around her neck, and with a jerk, she is caught before she can resist. As she manages to slip from the hands that hold her, the collectibles shriek and moan in fear and sadness. A few run to hide in the darker corners of the room.

Sherwood remains near Ikari- the satyr can almost hear his tired sigh. This seems to have happened before.

Matsu jerks back, resisting the trap, as a dark figure melts away from the wall, a humanoid shape with no other defining features. The shape of it's eyes are two gaping holes in shadow. "The Master has awoken, Matsu-chan. He requires you." The rope strains, and Ikari notices a familiar weave, unique to the culture of his homeland- rice grass, the same sort displayed in woven lengths in every Shinto temple ever erected. Only this band does not carry the clockwise twist known to bring good luck; to the contrary, this one is twisted in an ominous counter-clockwise fashion.

Matsu struggles again, and the rope is jerked with extreme force. It throws the fox to her shoulder. As Sherwood stands on his rear feet in alarm, the shadowed figure jerks once more, and a brilliant explosion of glamour lights the room for a fraction of a second.

"Oh... no..." The little ragdoll's voice cries passionately from somewhere in the room.

The sound of choking calls attention back to the shadow's capture. Holding her throat and gasping for air, the slender figure of a woman lies in disarray on the floor. Matsu's pale asian skin nearly matches the white of her formal kimono, a scarlet red obi indicating her right to claim the Shinto Priestesshood. Her black hair is half twisted up into elaborate knots, the rest falling over her shoulder. Her free hand grasps at the rope, looking up at the shadow balefully as she coughs air back into her lungs.

Even Sherwood lets out a mournful cry of empathy.

The shadow seems to know Matsu's dignity is the cost of her obedience, and he takes it from her with no mercy. He lifts her to her feet by the rope around her throat, holding it too high for her to stand normally. Whirling her around in his dark arms, he holds her tight to him, pulling the rope until colour leaves Matsu's lips. Her eyes meet Ikari's for a moment, fear and panic shoved deep within as she closes her eyes and masks herself with bravery.

"Let her go!" "Let her go!" "Let her go!" The family of brilliant green caterpillar call in tiny, squeaking voices.

The figure says nothing. Stepping backward, he pulls Matsu with him back into the wall, and they are gone. The room is once again silent.

After a few seconds, the quiet is pierced by the soft crying of a few of Matsu's friends.

Sherwood shakes his head sadly. His voice is much subdued from it's normally cheerful, eloquent tone. "She'll find your sword, Sir. Have no doubt of that." He removes his glasses and polishes them with a bit of his own fur, then puts them back on and looks to those that have not hidden.

"Find some sleep, everyone."

With that he looks up at Ikari. "Would you mind... reaching through the bars and grabbing that lamp? I'd like to tell you a story."
