Or it could be that it's software is "goofy" (his words). Can you play it using Windows Media Player or Real Player? I have other players (Quicktime, Real1, and the like), but haven't tried them. If you were to HEAR it, you could tell that it was "digitizing" or "skipping" something. But when I rip it and replay it from the file, it sounds fine because it's been converted to a .wav or whatever.
