Subject: Question

I'm trying to control a very large Word document. I've got the dang thing formatted, even have the pictures and captions formatted correctly so that their numbers change when I move stuff around or add/delete pictures and such.

Now the question: Is there a way to link the reference I made to a particular caption to that particular caption? So that if the caption number changes that number will change as well. Am I being clear? Shoot. For instance, if I say "The world will end tomorrow as described in figure 8 below" but then need to add some pre-end of world pictures first and now the end of the world description is figure 12. Is there a way to automatically make my document change to "The world will end as described in figure 12 below"?

You'd think it wouldn't be hard to change a few references. Well now I'm up to 68 and I have to add some, and I never get to add at the end. And I have to keep it updated daily because it is on a shared workspace and some idiot will always complain if the references don't match the captions. The world can end tomorrw and that's okay - but the reference MUST match the caption. .. hate them.

[> Wow, Carrotts! I have no idea! LOL It's funny, at work, everyone always comes to me with all their computer questions, especially Excel related stuff. Then they all gush about how I'm the one to go to for computer help. But then I come home and read your technical questions and I'm reminded that I am far from even beginning to know everything! LOL Thanks for keep my head level! -- JAG Junkie (Ronda)--I even asked DH (the resident computer nerd in the family) and he didn't know either!, 18:38:54 05/01/07 Tue [1]
